About meI'm in the grip of a hopeless addiction to books (and what's in them), and have been for as long as I can remember. I'm a Northerner in long-term exile, working in London, reading as much, and whenever, I can - although paid employment, sadly, tends to get in the way.....

About my libraryFar too large, bizarrely diverse, and ever-growing. Oh dear.

Thank you for your kind comments - I have been collecting the knitting books for a number of years - I have to confess to being intrigued by your book on knitted Cakes...

Good luck with minimising the book buying - I find my attempts at doing so just do not last!

Cheers
Hello Fougasse
Thank you so much for for adding my collection to your Interesting Libraries list.

I have really enjoyed browsing through your collection - albeit recognising the risk in finding new boooks that I might now wish to track down... and look forward to enjoying further browsings..
Hellow, Fougasse! Thanks so much for adding me. I absolutely adored 'One Fine Day.' I found it incredibly touching as well as a remarkable depiction of the time. Just wonderful. I'm afraid I haven't read Betty MacDonald's 'Anyone Can Do Anything' - in fact, it's been quite some time since I read any of hers. But I do agree, how sad that she died so young. I see we share a lot of books - not just all the Persphones and VMCs! Lots of my favourite children's books too! 'Little Katia' brings back so many happy reading memories! - Helen xx
Hello Fougasse,
Thanks for looking at the blog. Glad you like it. Photos do take up less space than books!
Bye for now, Orla.
Wow, Frances Partridge! She seems like she'd be an interesting person to gossip with, very observant and funny. I haven't read her whole diary but I've read parts here and there and like her a lot. All of those people are interesting. I feel a tiny bit of shame that I can't get into Virginia Woolf's writing as much as I enjoy reading about her.

Please, feel free to add me.
Hi Fougasse,I should think your Fougasse originals must be worth a bit now ! I claim to be a southerner as well as a Northerner as we spent the wartime years in the Isle of Wight, before leaving for New Zealand. As you are keen on children's books, could I draw your attention to the collection of Pippakay, which I have just come across ?
Best Regards.
Hi Fougasse ! Am intrigued by your nom-de-livre. Are you related to the wartime cartoonist or just an admirer of his work ? You say you are a Northener - my family have been Yorkshire folk for the last 900 years. In case you are a Lancashire supporter, I boarded with Lancashire folk for a number of years.
Best Regards, Hugh Bretton (Booksrme)
Hi,thanks so much for those....I`m definitely going to check out the Molly Hughes trilogy. Hope the marmalade turned out well! Mel
Hi there, yes there are loads of books that interest me in your library! I`m particularly getting into reading as much as I can about Victorian London, novels or non-fiction...can you recommend anything in particular that you`ve enjoyed? If you can listen to the radio during the day and haven`t come across radio London, I can recommend Robert Elms between 12 and 3pm (especially Mon to Wed) for lots of interesting pieces about Londons history, literature and architecture...as an occasional change from the equally wonderful radio 4!

Mel
Hopeless addiction?? Tell me about it! I'm obsessed! I have hit a used book sale every weekend for about two months now and another lined up for this Saturday.. :) I am looking for a 12-step program..
I happened upon your page because I was looking to see who had copies of the Stella Gibbons book "The Swiss Summer". I just saw a cover of an older version and because I like all things Swiss, it intrigued me! Have you read it? If so, please let me know your thoughts.
Isn't LT just so much fun? I have been on over two years now and find it to be an addiction in itself.
Cheers from Canada,
Clamato
