I have added a review on Amazon.com as requested. I really like most of your titles and appreciate the chance to learn about Jewish people, history, humor from their point of view. I am looking forward to your next book!
Thanks Gefen! I did receive my copy of Woman of Valor by Lihi Lapid! I got it late as I was on vacation when it arrived! I started it last night and couldn't put it down! I will be posting my review as soon as I finish it! So far I'm loving it! As a new mom of a beautiful 11 month old little girl I'm relating to everything! Thanks for the ER Copy!

Thanks for the follow-up. I did receive it and am half-way through reading it. I like it, but find her dual-track writing confusing at times. I love that the letters from her readers are included!

To whom it may concern:

Its been some time since I've gotten and reviewed your suggested book Kosher Jesus By Shmuley Boteach earlier in the year and have asked to be sent several suggested titles from Gefen or any of your suggested books and haven't heard from you at all. Can you let me know if you still send books for reading and reviewing and if you are am I still lucky enough to be part of your family of book reviewers.

I am curious. Why have you created a listing in Librarything that references Avraham Burg's Torah commentary under a title totally unlike its English title?

Recently received itamar makes friends! Thanks for letting me review it and I look forward to using it in the future. I placed my review on amazon and library thing.
I just reviewed Conversations with my Ancestors by Andrew Sanders on Goodreads, LibraryThing and Amazon. I'd love to review another Gefen book.

Thanks!
After posting my comment (see below) I scrolled down and found you have had several previous instances of not fulfilling the requests for books you had listed on ER. LibraryThing members apply in good faith and expect publishers to respond reliably.
On August 9 you sent me a message, with offer of a book in place of "A Timeless People." I replied (as did Frayda Glass...see below). This was to replace June ER selection you were unable to provide. It is now 8/30. Fifteen members had expected a book from you. Will you be sending any books or not? Please realize that in choosing your offer we gave up a chance of book from another publisher. LT is a valuable venue for readers and publishers. I hope it is maintained fairly.
This is Frayda Glass at fglass1@gmail.com. I responded to your message that your book, "A Timeless People", would not be available for my review at present. I asked "Would it be possible for me to receive a delayed copy of "A Timeless People" rather than my selecting another of your books? " I have not heard back from you, so I have waited to select another of our newly published titles.

Please acknowledge my email, and let me know if I might wait for "A Timeless People" or if I should select another of your titles.

Thank you.
Frayda Glass
I am sending to you this review of HAAZINU (LISTEN UP) A Book of Prophecy
Yerachmiel Ben-Yishye writes Haazinu starting with a group therapy session that begins the relationship between the main characters. The story is about a spiritual search, and a religious search. At first I may have been offended by the stories opinion, that the Jews deserved what has happened to them through history due their straying from strictly following what God had dictated to them, but when the religious aspects of the story are expanded upon this feeling was put to rest and made clearer what the author was seeking to establish.
The book uses many Biblical quotes and references to questions posed by the Torah. I am not a Talmudic scholar to appreciate all this from my blend of secular and religious upbringings, but some, like where exactly was Cain banished to by God, are made much more understandable.
The author's writing helps keep the story moving along and keeps you reading the book. From the opening part of the story, there are a lot of deep and intense feelings from with the soul. I did get confused at times during my reading with the characters and I was grateful for the author's notes at the end of the book. If you have an open mind, this book is worth exploring and considering what ideas have been offered. I may decide to read it again as the author suggests and continue on with future writings being introduced and I would like to see where this ends up.

Just want to post an apology: I will be unable to read and review "Conversations With My Ancestors," which you kindly sent via Member Giveaway. It was nearing the top of my to-be-read stack, when an interruption in the form of an F5 tornado (we're in Joplin, Missouri) claimed both my house and my personal library.

I'd like to thank you, however, for sending the book my way -- my first browse intrigued me. I've enjoyed discovering new authors and publishers via LibraryThing.

Regrets,

gmathis

Yes I am also active on Goodreads..as Tami Montano. I am glad you reposted my review on Facebook. I hope that it is helpful to you. Thank you for friending me! The world is too big not to be filled with friends!

I have here posted a review of The book Stairway to Heaven by Therese Zrihen-Dvir you sent to me, Forgive the delay in this review.
This book of fiction is for me a story of strength and of hope. As an American Jew I can and do look at the Israeli- Arab conflict since even before statehood in 1948 as a continuing of the worldwide struggle for Jews to survive. Notwithstanding the book’s title, it is about human kind’s ability to pick itself up, even from the worst of tragedies, and to go on living. Naomi rushes to the hospital a young Russian immigrant Israeli soldier who had been wounded in the Palestinian’s suicide bombing of the commuter bus. We learn that this act of kindness was in character for Naomi, and that of her adult daughter Nicole who had earlier witnessed the double suicide bombing on Jan. 22, 1995 of the Beit Lid bus station. Numbed Naomi and Nicole attended the funerals and paid calls to the families of as many of the victims as they could. The book is not a naïve attempt to show this horrible side of life. Naomi attempts to learn why Palestinians would choose death over coexistence with Israelis, why a Palestinian mother would raise their son to become a “martyr,” or why Palestinian crowds would celebrate a “martyr’” deaths with cheers and distribution of sweets. Neither the Palestinian nor the Israeli in the book can make the other understand their point of view. If one needs to look at this book by this Israeli author as an attempt to present the incident from an Israeli point of view then so be it. In the ceremony to induct new officers into the Israeli Armed Forces at the fortress at Masada my feelings in the continuing struggle for Jews to exist in the world but especially in Israel can be summed up in two words heard in the ceremony ”Never Again”.
I was told I won this book as a member giveaway. That was at the end of February. The book has never arrived. Looks like no one else received their copy, either. If you don't intend to send copies, why bother putting them up for giveaway? It would be nice if we had been told if there was a delay in shipping. Unless I hear otherwise, I will not expect the book and will make sure not to bother you with signing up for another give aways of your books.
Hi, I was wondering about the status of the book, Conversations With my Ancestors, by Andrew Sanders which I won in a member giveaway on February 24th. If you've decided not to send it for whatever reason, that's okay. But if you did send it and were wondering why I hadn't posted a review, it's because I didn't receive it.
Thank you.
I just noticed that I was also supposed to receive Conversation with My Ancestors. I have yet to receive this book either. Can you please respond to either this message or my first one?

I was also wondering about The Fire and The Cloud. I was notified on Feb 20th. As soon as I was notified, I placed it in my schedule for reviews. The date is fast approaching for when I had planned to review it. I will reschedule the review once I know what the status of the book is.

Thanks!
Norma
I was just checking to see if you've shipped The Fire and the Cloud which I was notified back in February I won through Members Giveaways. I am not trying to rush you..just wanted to make sure it didn't get lost in the mail. Thanks so much! Andrea
