About meI'm a teen services librarian with eclectic tastes. I read a lot of books and I buy even more books that I hope to read someday...when I can stop taking photos or watching movies or any of my other hobbies. :-)

About my libraryThese are mostly books that I own, so that I can keep track of my personal library. There are a lot of "books I hope to read" here. Many more of my recent "books I've actually read"--primarily teen fiction for my job-- and book reviews are on

Hi Christina : What is your BGG id? I am TheoClarke there too.
Hi Christina: I am delighted that the ST books were so successful. I plan to update my BGG catalogue when I finish cataloguing my books.

Thank you so much for being my Secret SantaThing! I instantly fell in love with the books you selected and am beyond thrilled that they fit so well into the books that I already own. As a librarian, I am always seeking to complete my own personal library at home and wish I had more time to finish reading a lot of my books as well. Hopefully, this year I will be able to do that now that my collection no longer has gaps in it. I'm particularly excited about The Kill Order, as I have actually gone through the trilogy and can't wait to read more about this exciting universe.

Once again, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I hope you have a happy holiday season and many good wishes for the new year to you and your family. :)

Hi, GoldieBug -- I'm doing SantaThing again this year, after some good results in 2011, and the weirdest thing happened. The person I ended up getting assigned to choose for is actually one of my library colleagues! Not someone I directly work with, but the "tech guy" for the Nebraska Library Commission a block away from the library where I work! We regularly interact, at library conferences and when he comes in to my library as a customer. The day the notices went out informing us of who we would be picking books for, I was at a training workshop, sitting at the same table as my SantaThing target -- we had just been chatting 5 minutes before my phone bleeped to tell me I had a new e-mail, which I opened to learn it was the guy sitting 10 feet away from me! Crazy! Hope your SantaThing experience in 2012 is a good one! I see that four people left suggestions/comments on my entry (which I don't get to see until after 12-25), so I'm really curious to see what comes of it all!
Cool...thanks for the SantaThing update! And don't worry about the length -- I prefer longer comments from friends! Not being aware of last year's problems, like a doofus, when I selected my "store" from which to have my SantaThing books deliver, I actually picked Powells this year, thinking it was a bookstore I enjoyed shopping at in Seattle a few years back, and not realizing it was in the UK. Having committed to that, the software now won't let me change my "bookstore" setting to anything else. So...I guess I'll just have to hope this year's deliveries are not similarly delayed, and chalk it up to experience.
Hi, GoldieBug -- I followed your example and signed up for SantaThing this year, for the first time. Did you have a good experience with it previously? How closely did your person get to your identified interests?
