About meI have always loved books and art. I collect what I love to read and admire regardless of the edition or artist. I love combing used or rare book stores finding amazing books that I never thought existed, or finding that one artist to whom you make a connection. Book and art collecting are such an adventure.
Then one day a couple of years ago, I was introduced to Edward Gorey. What a combination of the written word and art…..I was hooked. As many devotees to Gorey will attest, as I acquired certain editions---I hadn’t actually seen the edition--his work is so hard to aquire and many editions have only just recently been reprinted in an affordable edition, each arrival was an adventure. Even the compilations are becoming hard to acquire.
Each time you read one of his books, you see or interpret something you hadn’t seen previously. It’s a constant joy. For me, isn’t that the best of the written word and a good art work???

About my libraryI do collect other areas--signed Pop ups and New Orleans (where I am originally from) themed books. But my focus is one day to aquire a significant Edward Gorey collection to eventually donate to a rare book library to celebrate one of America's best 20th century's author and illustrator.

I doubt if you want to sell "Fletcher and Zenobia" since you are a collector. I have a great-niece in Athens, Ga., who would like to read this book. My sister, great-niece's grandmother, gave me the book and now I can't find it to share. I will keep looking. Grand idea to save the works of this writer/author.
Thanks! I was actually in a used bookstore in downtown Fredericksburg this weekend and saw a display of EG books - of course, I thought of you. One that caught my eye was The Curious Sofa but I see you already have that one!

Getting ready to go home tomorrow - now I just have to figure out how to fit all the books I bought, haha.
Hi Duane,

Yes, this is Mike's wife. He asked me tonight "If I said to you the word 'goreyphile' g-o-r-e-y, what do you think of?" I said, "Edward Gorey." He rolled his eyes and then told me about the conversation you'd had. Mike of course not being the most bookish didn't make the connection and thought g-o-r-y. I thought it was funny and typical of Mike, so then I figured I would look you up. Isn't LibraryThing great? I like Edward Gorey, too - I've thought about getting one of his drawings as a tattoo, but haven't yet.

Anyway, my comment was me trying to be funny. :-)
