About meI'm a librarian at a college in upstate NY who moonlights as the librarian for an Orthodox church in Rochester, St. John the Baptist. I also like to build stone Inukshuks on the beaches in Canada when on vacation!

About my libraryThis is a sample of the books we have at St. Johns. They are mainly books about Orthodoxy, or Eastern Christianity, many of which you wouldn't see at your local Christian book store or library. The treasures of Orthodoxy are too little known in the West, which is a shame, since its living practice of ancient tradition and mystic, prayerful approach to God are such fascinating alternatives to contemporary western Christianity. Please feel free to email or IM me at if you'd like to see any of these books! Our website is http://www.stjohnsroch.org/.

Hi Guthlac - I see you are the only other person on LibraryThing who has the book "Nostalgia for Orthodoxy" that I just added to my catalogue. It must be very rare now! I acquired my copy in the 1960s while living in Cyprus, where I joined the Greek Orthodox Church. (I now live in Galilee, Israel, and attend an[Arabic-speaking] Greek Orthodox church). I see we have several other books in common also. I just added your library to my "interesting libraries". Margaret.
