I'm 21 yrs old, and I want to be a published author someday and own a sanctuary for abused/unwanted/hurt animals of all kinds. Right now, however, I'm just trying to keep my head above water in this crazy game of life.
I love books, all kinda of books. I'm particularly attached to YA books, books that are technically below my reading level but are so good that I can't be bothered to think about that fact (ie Nancy Drew, Sweet Valley, etc). I have many random books but I've realized I don't usually buy random books unless someone has recommended it or it's on a subject I completely love. I usually stick with my tried-and-true authors and series.
I have piles of books that I need/want to get rid of, and I do that on BookMooch, which is pretty much tied with LibraryThing in my mind for the MOST AWESOME book-related website EVAR.
About my libraryWhile this catalogue started out only for books I actually own, I quickly became pulled in to the point where it now includes all the books I own (including To Be Read books), my favorite library books, plus books I read and liked but no longer have (including children's books and books from school).
One of my favorite things about my catalogue is that it keeps getting bigger, and sometimes in unexpected ways. It keeps growing and growing, and a lot of that is because of surfing around the site and finding books that I'd forgotten about that I'd read years ago!
Explanation of some of my tags:
"don't know where or when I read it" ... Mainly self-explanatory. I've come across a few books that I *know* I've read, I remember them very well, but I don't own them and they aren't in my list of given-away books, and I can't remember if they were library books.
"special memories" is kind of self-explanatory as well. It mostly refers to books from my past, teen or childrens books, that have for whatever reason made a big impact on me.
"influenced my stories": I'm an amature (read: unpublished) author, and there are some books that have heavily influenced the way I write, the things I write about, ideas for scenes, etc.

Just to let you know that the Animal Ark books have arrived and I've reserved them for you on BM. Also, the sender said that she has a whole bag of them so if there were others that you wanted, you could let me know and I could see if she has them?
Take care

BBC *sigh* I ment BSC (Baby-Sitters Club). I've actually begun to think I should pick them up at the thrift stores as the local book stores don't sell them any more. I actually didn't get into Tamora Pierce until after Harry Potter. I was 20 when I first found her and I guess I just enjoyed a fantsay novel with a femal lead that I fell in love with both her worlds.
As for Nancy Drew I love that they are mysteries that don't talk down to the child who is reading them. I also like that I still have a hard time seeing who the bad guy is until the author has Nancy figure it out.

I was obsessed with Nancy Drew and BBC books when I was a kid. Then I got into the Hardy Boys after I started the joint mysteries. *snort* I had almost all the BBC books, but when I got to college my mom asked if she could give them to a friend. I didn't have enought room so I was like sure go ahead. *sigh* now I regret not still having the BBC books, I held onto the the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys ones. Anyway long explanation for nothing really.
Thanks for grabbing those for me. I had a copy of Tricksters Queen that was suppose to come to me but the moochers account was put on hold. Those shipping to her got a account closed notice but I didn't. They are almost the last two I need from Tamora Pierce to have all her books. Now I just need the White Tiger one and I got them all. *dances* My dad and bf have both told me I need to stop getting books I just rolled my eyes and picked up my book to finish reading. Any who thanks again I really appreciate it!
BTW I'm ArtemisAthene on bookmooch.

For some reason I can't post on the forum right now - it's saying debug test?
Anyways, thank you so much for angel mooching those two books for me (Wally Lamb and Things I Learned From Women Who Dumped Me). I really appreciate it. My BM ID is the same as on LT - michellereads, and my member name is michelle (Canada).
I tried to find a Heather from Arizona on BM but I didn't have much luck. Please pass along your BM ID to me so that I can find you!
Thanks again,

I have just gotten a reply about your 'angel' mooch request: Women Out of Control: How the Girls Next Door Became Some of the World's Most Notorious Criminals, as I managed to contact the member. She wrote:
Hi Lyn,
I've been meaning to send you an email. I kind of live in two places and the book you have asked for is in the NT at the moment. I'm FIFO at a mine there and currently it is sitting in my donga. I go back to work on tuesday next week. I'll try and send it from work if possible. If not I will not be able to send it for at least a week and a half.
Really sorry. I should get into the habit of checking me email at work so I can make sure I bring the books that are wanted to be mooched.
I told her not to worry and we wouldn't mind waiting until she could send it... so I hope you won't! NT is Northern Territory BTW, and you may have known that, and I am not sure if she is in another state at present; I asked what a FIFO did, and otherwise I will wait now, until it is sent. :)
I am actually very pleased to get this reply, as I was worrying this would turn into another case of a new member disappearing.
Hope this IS all OK with you,
~Lyn

Ever written a haiku? There's been a mini-outbreak of haiku on the topic of "Waiting for Collections" -- I don't know if you're into that sort of thing, but for some reason I was thinking that you might want to join in the fun... Check out this thread and, of course, the LibraryThing Haikus page.

Most of my titles at Loose Id are also available through Fictionwise, which does allow you to pay by cheque via the Micropay system, which lets you to buy credit to use later. I haven't used it myself, but I know people who use this to buy enough credit to cover a few books by cheque and then buy books as they see an interesting title.

I am posting a comment to let you know that your review copy has shipped and should arrive sometime in the middle of next week. I realize this was a bit later than I had originally anticipated and wanted to reassure you that it had not been lost in the mail or anything. I welcome all feedback and hope the book proves to have some value for you.

So now I go on vacation in between sending out bks in the beginning of each month, for chunks of 6-10 days.
It's true, communication needs to be clear on both sides. I just wish some of the BM members would finally 'get' it.

I've thought some more about your post and would now like to transfer my data listing positive review that I put in the reviews field into a comments field. Is there an easy way to do this? Also is there a way to add additional fields? I wouldn't have used the reviews field at all if I knew how to add more fields. Thanks. Deb

Thank you very much for your post. I am cataloging for my church library. I did not put the professional review info under comments, perhaps I should have. My personal bias is that our collection has too many books of mediocre quality, so I am trying to include the professional reviews so library users can consider reviews, if they want, when they select material.
I don't understand your comment about flagging, could you please explain?

I'm sorry to take this long to respond to your very kind comments; we just got back from a long vacation. Anyway, I'm glad to know you liked my reviews, and I enjoyed looking over your library. It's always nice to meet another comic-strip afficiando; sometimes it seems like it's only folks from my generation that appreciate them.

Thanks so very much for your comment - very sweet of you. It always puts a bright smile on my face to read comments from others on my page. What a day brightener! *smile* You know that Nancy Drew habit of yours could be quite profitable in the end, those books can sell for a bundle should you ever be inclined to sell them. I know I've been holding onto my YA collection of like titles in my collection for that reason among others.
*chuckle*
Well, that and the fact that I, like you, can't bear to part with them. It pains me to get rid of any books unless I already have a second copy or (very very rarely) really don't like the book and then it's no problem to part with it. But that really only happens about once a blue moon or so as it really takes a lot for me not to want to hold onto a book and keep it in my collection. However, it looks like we share a good collection of books, so I'm sure you know how that is.
Thanks for the comment again. :)
Much bliss & happy reading!

I know what you mean about the restrictions of how many books you can have in your catalog. I finally gave in and paid the whole fee, because after a couple weeks of adding books, I realized I'd reached 200 a lot quicker than I'd expected. :)
Oh yeah, there are tons of BSC books, especially if you include the spin-off series: Baby-sitters Little Sister, California Diaries, etc.
