About meI am an award winning writer, educator and gypsy scholar, plying my craft wherever adults gather for self-development and education. I specialize in developmental reading and writing, with forays into sustainability, eremology, outdoor education and SCUBA diving.
To support my habits in teaching and teacher education, I am a freelance education writer. I am the owner of StudioGraphia, LLC, a freelance writers’ cooperative that provides services in writing, editing, instruction, research and design. I have written supplemental online content, instructor manuals, curriculum, and textbook reviews for Bedford/St. Martins, Cengage Learning, McGraw-Hill Higher Education, Pearson, Wadsworth, and other publishers for twelve years.
My professional memberships include the Association of Writers and Writing Programs, the Editorial Freelancers Association, the National Association of Independent Writers and Editors, the International Reading Association, and the Professional Association of Diving Instructors. I serve on the leadership council of the Transformative Language Arts Network. As teacher and student, I have a deep understanding of the life-changing consequences of education. I have an acute knowledge of the sensitive matters that both sustain and interfere with the world in which people exchange information in the pursuit of lifelong learning.
My formal writing practice began with diaries and journals written at the feet of my scholarly grandfather. After enduring a long, dark, night of the soul brought on by severe illness and physical rehabilitation, I have reemerged into my community with a renewed focus and dedication to sharing the benefits of journal writing. My current efforts are focused on publishing a memoir about some of my early experiences in education—the lessons I should NOT have learned in school.

About my libraryI am a voracious reader.
