About meBack in 1991 my addiction to the Silk Road, China and the Mongols started with reading by chance my first book of Peter Hopkirk "Foreign Devils on the Silk Road". By reading this book I heard about the fantastic adventures of Aurel Stein at the beginning of the 20th century, allmost 100 years ago, learned about China as one of the starting points of the Silk Road, found out about Kublai Khan, founder of the Yuan Dynasty and grandson of Ghengis Khan and ended with reading everything there is to know about the Mongols.

I started a Blog about the Mongols, Ancient China and the Silk Road, it's worth a visit !!

Just a quick note to let you know that I've just discovered your Central Asia blog. This has been an area of interest for me for many years, and your site is invaluable.

I've just received my copy of Ruins of Desert Cathay, which I've coveted since the mid-80's. Let's drink a toast to Aurel Stein!

Cheers,
Maki
