GroupsAwful Lit., Early Reviewers, Outlander: Gabaldon's series about Jamie and Claire, Pages Read, Romance - from historical to contemporary, Used Books

About meI’m an avid reader. I LOVE books! I read a book in about 2 to 3 days on weekends and 1 book during the week. My job as a medical biller has kept me from getting to spend my days doing nothing but reading :( My mother started me reading from day one. Since then my nose has always been in a book (this explains the ink print on the tip…lol) Reading is my favorite hobby and I have been fortunate in having a wonderfully fabulous English teacher who did nothing but encourage this, as well as expand my library by turning me on to great classics and other literary genius’s. I am also a firm believer in sharing books, and often give my books to libraries and used bookstores. I have also be turned on to www.paperbackswap.com which is a great book swap site that is free, books and all

MY LIBRARY WILL NOT BE GROWING AS MUCH BECAUSE I AM IN COLLEGE. (Yay!)

Currently reading Greek Myths and Legends (love mythology)

About my libraryMy library consist of one shelf of classics (of which I have read half of one), the entire Harry Potter Collection, The Complete Outlander Series (including the unabridged audio CD’s), a lot of Clive Cussler novels, some miscellaneous works (Steven King, Robin Cook, Poets, Biographical works, a few Children’s works, etc.), and Historical Romance and Paranormal Romance novels (this is about two-thirds or more of my collection.) It includes Julia Quinn, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Christine Feehan, Gaelen Foley, Brenda Joyce, Karen Marie Moning, Sabrina Jeffries, Lisa Kleypas, Suzanne Enoch, Mary Balogh, Nicole Jordon, Kinley MacGregor, Jude Deveraux, etc. My library is so small because I used to get rid of a book once I read it but now I keep them to share and to reread. I have a little over five hundred books but have read about a fifth of what I have. I have probably read a total of any where from four and a half to eight hundred books total, but I’m young and have many decades to increase that number.

Ratings:

5=LOVED IT! Can't Wait to read the book again!

4½=Loved It. Will eventually read again.

4=Enjoyed It. Likely to read the book again on a rainy day.

3½=Liked It. Was worth reading but will probably never pick up again.

3=Okay. It was good enough to finish and I did like it but I have so many other books to read that I don't feel I will ever re-read it. I don't even think I want to re-read it. Good - but not great.

2½=Didn’t like it. Won’t reread again. May keep only because I can't seem to pawn it off.

2 and below=NEVER AGAIN!Hmmm...Don't want to read it again and am debating on whether or not I will trade the book in or give it to the library...Well..it Sucks! Book Store won’t take and shudder at the though of giving it to an unsuspecting library. Will not be staying in my library any longer than the next trash pick-up day. Can not believe anyone would publish it. (Likely isn't in my collection anymore. Just there as a warning.)

My library is far from up-to-date. Over one hundred new books have been added without being included on LibraryThing and I have sold all my V.C. Andrews books as well as many others (donated actually) because I just had to make room for new stuff. My New Year's Resolution is to get my Library Thing account up-to-date again by this summer.

Have you read anything by Terry Goodkind?
Jessa,
I just wanted to say thank you for your recommendation of Outlander. I was wonderful. Now I'm hooked and all the other books in my TBR pile are kicked to the end of the Outlander saga line.
Jessa,
Our group, Traveling Books, is a group of us who are avid readers but just can't afford to be buying as many books as we do. So, I came up with the idea of sharing books with one another - sending books to one another through the mail, and talking about them as we finish them. I could spend hundreds of dollars at book stores and so could the members of the group, but to save some money, we send them to one another.
Check out my library NOW, Jessa ~ I might have gone a little crazy obsessive with the CueCat, but it is addictive to keep adding books. :D
Hi, Jessa! I just read the message you left me on my profile. I haven't checked during the entire month of November ~ and we both know why that is. Heh heh. I just got a CueCat and started using it today, so at least there are a few books in my library now. :)

Mary
Hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi, thanks for joining the Used Books group. I really like your rating system--hope you don't mind if I use it myself? I'll say where I got the idea.
I'll keep an eye out for the Vampire Diary book you're looking for :-) I'm always heading into book stores, used and new. It drives my 6 y.o. crazy!
I did get your reply to my question about Outlander. It does sound interesting and I'm going to read it, I just have to get past the books I already have out. So many books, so little time LOL My husband's been on my case all day because I was reading "Tinker" by Wen Spencer and just wanted to finish the book. It was a really good fantasy novel if you like that genre.
Jessa-I've heard a lot from people about liking the Outlander series, but not so much what it is about. I'd love to hear more about it :-)

I ALWAYS forget Vane *smacks forehead* He is definitely my favorite shapeshifter after Wren for the same reasons.
Hello All! I have a new group that I started on LT so check it out and see what's up. :)

Its Outlander: Gabaldon's Series about Jamie and Claire.

- Jessa
Hi Jessa,

I'm glad you joined the group. Yes, I also think it's great that LT unites people with the same kind of reading interests from all over the world.

I guess you've got some catching up to do on the older posts. ;)

See you on the board,

Julia
I enjoy seeing comments for people who visit my 'library' so feel free to comment. Tell me what you liked about my collection, what you didn't, what I should add, what we have in common or just say Hey!. :) - JBookLover
I will definitely check out Darkfever - I read the synopsis on Amazon and it looks good.

Laurell K. Hamilton is also a good read - I have only read her Anita Blake books, but she has quite a following on her Merry Gentry titles as well.

Melissa
I looked over your catalog - your right, we read a lot of the same stuff..
Go ahead and use my rating system (I had to think of something to get my thoughts in order - i work in research, so everything has to have a system).

I can't choose just one vampire book to read, so here goes:
Bram Stoker (of course)
anything by Christine Feehan (I noticed you had one, but she is awesome)
books by J.R. Ward and Lynn Viehl are new favorites of mine
I am Dracula is good
(Of course Sherrilyn Kenyon - but you already know this)
Anne Rice Vampire Chronicles prior to Blackwood Farm (for me, this was the beginning of the end - it seemed like her writing style changed)
I've heard books by Kim Harrison were very good - I just haven't read them yet ;-)

-Melissa
You asked about my "tarkista" tag, it means check the details.
I couldn't narrow it down to one in a million years. I can't even narrow it down to a favorite genre! Gone With the Wind and Wuthering Heights, Pride and Prejudice, Dr. Zhivago...all somewhere above every other book, of course...as far as current writers, I guess a good start would be:

Lisa Kleypas-The Devil In Winter (THE perfect romance novel!)
Jill Marie Landis-Magnolia Creek
Cheryl Reavis-The Bride Fair, The Prisoner
Mary Balogh-Simply Married
Jodi Thomas-A Texan's Luck
Laura Kinsale-Flowers in the Storm
Diane Perkins-The Improper Wife
Catherine Anderson-Baby Love
Susan Elizabeth Phillips-Dream a Little Dream, Match Me If You Can
Jennifer Crusie-Bet Me
Jenna Kernan-Winter Woman
Kate Bridges-The Surgeon
Mary Burton-The Unexpected Wife
Sasha Lord-Across a Wild Sea
Kathryn Fox-The Reunion
Joan Johnston-The Next Mrs. Blackthorne
Thank you! I just love this site. I have wanted to catalog my books for years, but the task seemed so daunting, but this has been easy.
