About meBorn in Washington, DC, I attended Arizona State University my freshman year but was asked not to return, for reasons best forgotten (social, not academic). My parents' response was to send me to a women's college in Southern Virginia. I soon escaped to Valencia, Spain for my junior year where I enjoyed Spanish culture and food, and followed with a summer of solo hitchhiking through Spain and Morocco. A life-long advocate for those with little power in our society, I've worked for fair treatment for abused women, prisoners, and the elderly. My first job as a "Nader's Raider" was followed by 17 years as writer and founding editor of a publication for the American Civil Liberties Union. Later I worked as a court advocate for victims of domestic violence. I'm married to a human rights lawyer, and have one son and four step-daughters. I've written a book about my father that has been a labor of love, and I hope he would be proud.
