About meLibrarian, Baby Boomer, dreamer, activist, Still hoping to run away sometime, I remember Woodstock, Jimi Hendrix, Filmore East, and student strikes in 1970. Still working for peace.

About my libraryLiterary memoirs, especially contemporary women writers. Like to read food memoirs like MFK Fisher, Laurie Colwin, Ruth Reichl - also women's travel stories. Don't read much written by men but that's a reaction to too many years studying the pre-feminist "literature canon" Tastes still developing - I hope they always will be.

Dear Jane,
I second Elaine's testimonial for both the Virago group and Awesomebooks - which I found through the Virago group. You are most welcome among the VMC readers! I look forward to hearing from you often and long!
I wonder whether you have any interest in reading the Orange Prize nominees. We're on the way with Orange January, and I'll send you an invitation to the group to check out.
Peggy
Dear Jane,

awesomebooks.uk.co has most of the Olivia Manning books for 1.99GBP. If you order two books you get free shipping to the US and with the dollar/pound ration that is about $3.00 a book. Awesome ships airmail so you usually only have to wait 10 days or so to get your books.

Hope you stick around. This is one of the best groups

Elaine

PS. I'm sending you the PM, as well as the post on the VMC board, to make sure you get it. awesomebooks is one of the best deals on the internet. It beats any other used book site I have found.
