About meSince becoming a quadriplegic, I have had to make a multitude of adjustments in my life. Reading has remained my lifeline to sanity & happiness, filling the hours of the day & sometimes the nights where I just cannot sleep. Thank goodness for the advent of ebooks. Although it is difficult at times to hold an ereader or tablet, it is certainly easier than my struggle to read hard copy where sadly the dexterity required to turn the pages evades me. Reading distracts me from the constant pain that has become a permanent companion. Although I cannot read for long periods as this causes migraines, many ebooks now seamlessly continue onto audiobooks giving me the option to switch when needed. I wish that more ebook retailers offered this choice and provided this option for the disabled at no additional cost since most of us are on such a tight budget. Life is not always a bowl of cherries and it certainly doesn't always play fair. All the money in the world cannot guarantee that you will be happy (although it certainly can help :-). If you are healthy, then you are richer than you can imagine so take the time to smell the roses cause life can change very quickly. I begin my day looking for something to be grateful for, no matter how small. Most days, my glass remains half-full but I cannot deny that sometimes it is very easy to see it as half-empty. I can't see the point in wallowing in self-pity since it would only serve to make those I love unhappy. I'm not perfect but I try my best. Reading helps me from descending into misery. All my family & friends know to buy me gift cards to where I can purchase eBooks or audiobooks since they know I spend the majority of my days immersed in novels. I also have library cards to the 4 main libraries where I reside and this certainly fills my eReader & Tablet with both eBooks and audiobooks to their maximum memory capacity. πŸŒ·πŸŒΌπŸŒ»πŸ˜‡

About my libraryAmazingly my home actually has a large library that holds shelves and shelves of pristine hardcover, trade paperbacks & paperback. I began reading when I was young and devoured books all my life often reading 2-3 hardcover on a busy weekend. My favourite genre has always been mysteries & police procedural although I've enjoyed Dean Koontz and Stephen King all my life. I'm also a fantasy reader and very much enjoy Brandon Sanderson, Neil Gaiman, and many other similar authors. I very much enjoy novels about the paranormal, magic, werewolves and other such creatures of the night. I was a fan of the Dresden books before the televised seriesu and J.R.Ward's Brotherhood series, The Dust Chronicles and many authors of their ilk. On occasion, I enjoy YA novels & Christian novels about Amish life. I like Steampunk ,historical novels, and time travel. I guess the only genre I'm not overly found of are Romance novels with the exception of some of the Nora Roberts'series.
