Ahh, now I understand where you are coming from. The religious aspect is important. I agree that the western world is largely a judeo-christian culture, and the eastern world consists of muslim and other eastern faiths. If only we could divide the continents so easily! And then there is Africa, but that is another subject altogether.

I had to chuckle at your comment about the importance of Quebec to Canada. I'm (shamefully) unfamiliar with Canadian government or history, but it's my understanding that Quebec has a certain amount of desire to seceed from Canada and become an independent State. I'd wager they'd like to believe that the other provinces would collapse and be absorbed into the USA without them! However, I doubt that would happen. I don't think Canadians, in general, are that enamoured of the US. And Canada is too important an ally for us to risk alientating them by attempting a takeover. It is true that our people are much alike, and British Columbia is very closely tied to our Pacific Northwest region, as are other border cities tied to their American counterparts. We are told that our border with Canada is the longest open international border in the world. I hope that never changes.

I think the next territory that could be expected to be added as a state would be the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico, that the US has controlled since 1898. There has been talk about them becoming the 51st state, and I think maybe even elections about the issue, but it has not passed yet.

I'm looking forward to seeing your comments on other topics as they come up.
Hello and thank you for your comment to my profile, Jean-Louis. Unfortunately I do not have too much knowledge about anthroposophy yet - it is through homoeopathy (I am a physician working homoeopathically, as well) and my current interest in some aspects of "hermetical" ideas (tarot, alchemy ... - all not too unrelated to homoeopathy it seems) that I decided to do some reading on Rudolf Steiner. From your library I guess you have much more knowledge and interest in this area than I (although I could gain both in the future :-).
As for languages they interest me (and I still want to learn Italian, Spanish and perhaps French some time... oh yes, the resolves ...), but unfortunately apart from my mother tongue German it is only English that I know a little bit about. No French at all - and that is a pity for that has always kept me from going to Normandy or the Bretagne both of which I guess would be places I would like a lot.
Anyway, thanks for the contact and kind greeting!
Christian

Thanks for reading, and thanks so much for the feedback, Jean-Louis! It means a lot to me.

Brett Easton Ellis and C.S. Lewis--what can I say? I have eclectic tastes. :)

Thanks again!

-Jeremy :)
