About meI'm a retired airline pilot and former USAF officer with an interest in meditation, consciousness studies, and particularly the philosophy of Franklin Merrell-Wolff, B. Alan Wallace, and Ken Wilber. I like to read about current affairs and am attracted to Ken Wilber's idea of "integral politics," with my own neo-conservative bias. My favorite poets are Kahlil Gibran and Rumi.

About my libraryMy library reflects my life. Books on water polo honor the memory of my coach at UC Berkeley, Peter J. Cutino. Books on military history relate to a life long interest, and my service as a combat pilot in Vietnam. Business books touch upon several start-up business ventures. C.G.Jung said a person should study philosophy in the latter part of one's life. I've taken that advice and my library supports what has become my passion.

As a fellow fan of Library Thing with some of the same books in our collections, I thought you might like www.FindLikeMinds.com

You can see an independent review at http://www.killerstartups.com/SocialNetw...

Of all the books you’ve ever read, there are those that just stand out head and shoulders above the rest, these are what new start-up www.FindLikeMinds.com are calling Life Influences.

They say 'it’s the classics, the obscure, and the ground breaking, exceptional and extraordinary that truly influence us - a philosophy that applies to more than just books, there’s songs, movies, places, people, art, the list is endless'.

Community - Creating an influence profile, members share life influences and form genuine connections not by who they know but by what’s influenced them.

Have a look at www.FindLikeMinds.com they're accepting members by invitation now!

I've heard of Ken Wilber, but usually in the context of spirituality. I've never read anything by him. I'm ignorant of "Spiral Dynamics."
I like The Pentagon's New Map more than Blueprint for Action. I tend to agree with many of Barnnett's points in diagnosing the system, but tend to deviate from his prescriptions for fixing it. I think Barnnett places too much emphasis on economic determinism and doesn't give proper analytical weight to history and the non-economic motivations of mankind. I find his ideas on China and Iran thought-provoking, if not altogether convincing.
