I have written a book called "Your Child's Strengths: Discover Them" with a foreword by Marcus Buckingham. My school is the only explicitly strengths-based school in the world. My book is intended to change the national conversation about education of k-college. If I have asked you to become my friend it is because I have looked over your library and see that you and I share interests. I want you to check out the Strengths Movement and the parts of it I am organizing and see if you wish to join me. In a few weeks you will be able to go to this Movement in a variety of places and strengths building activities for everyone. You can see my school at www.purnell.org and my blog at www.strengthsmovement.com. I am on a mission to change a fundamental element of our nation's schools. We tend to focus on people's weaknesses rather than their strengths and talents. Most people do not even know what their strengths are let alone how to make them work in their favor. My work begins by developing strengths at a very young age so seeing strengths in one's self and in others becomes a lifelong habit for a positive and meaningful life. I have been an English teacher for much of my career before moving on to this mission. Please feel free to correspond with me. You can see a video of me on the Today Show on my school's website. About my libraryMy library includes books that have changed my thinking.
