GroupsScience Fiction Fans, What Are You Reading Now?

About meI am ashamed to be a librarian - they simply act as self-appointed organizers of books.

About my libraryMy personal collection of books (never call it a library, because that imples an institution not an organic, gorwing/shrinking collection) includes science fiction, horror, and embroidery, along with poetry, literature and reference books. I buy a lot of my books on Amazon - and I keep my collection fairly small. I borrow a lot of trashy fiction from the library - which is all it is useful for!

I am sorry to hear that the terminal disease affecting libraries has spread to the UK. I loved your comment in the Librarians who use Librarything posts. Libraries should have constantly changing collections. That is what I was taught at The Royal School of Librarianship in Copenhagen and most specifically in my internship in the Lyngby-Taarbek Public Library in Denmark. The first thing we did every day was to check the shelves to see the condition of the books and whether we should reduce the number of copies held or add to them. We were also supposed to report on the ares of the collection needing supplementary material.
