About me23 year-old book-addict...
I thought that my book-purchasing habits might fall to somewhat more normal levels after I left university and didn't *have* to buy lots of books each year, but it was not to be. It was ever an unrealistic dream! My wallet is doomed to suffer for ever more, but... look at my shiny shiny books...
About my libraryMy library has a reasonably broad range of both fiction and non-fiction, like so many people on here, and it also seems to continually expand... Quality is quite varied too, for which I can only apologise.
Unfortunately, for space reasons, a lot of these books have been left in my parents' house, and only a select few (okay, about 90) have found their way to London with me. They still get loved, though! I return home periodically to swap books around...
I tend to get a lot of books from car boot sales and charity shops. That way I can get loads of great books for very little money, and they come ready with that lovely used-book smell that I love so much. What can I say, I like books that have character. London doesn't seem to have many car boot sales, though, so I've turned more to proper old second-hand bookshops and also buying new books. You still meet the best people in bookstores, though. That's a fact.
For my modern academic texts, though, I like them to look neat and tidy, and I don't like getting them second-hand. I like having the most up-to-date edition (even where it's not strictly necessary) and I don't want other people's notes all over them. Some people write in pen! So long as you don't do that, I'm sure we'll get along.
