About meI am a writer, author of the book of poems AS WHEN, IN SEASON (Marick Press, 2008) and working now on a non-fiction book about a family heirloom that hopes to illuminate relationships between Native Americans and other Americans from the mid-nineteenth century to the present. I have also worked as an editor for thirty years, and I've edited more than 150 books in a variety of fields, including literature (fiction, poetry, literary nonfiction and criticism, memoir), history, Native American histories and cultures, Women's Studies, regenerative gardening and farming, natural building techniques, renewable energy, and other areas. Currently I work as Managing Editor of the book publisher Tupelo Press; I am also a Visiting Scholar for the Vermont Council on the Humanities, under whose auspices I lead book-discussion groups in community libraries; an adjunct faculty member for Community College of Vermont, teaching writing, literature, and Native American Studies; and a member of the National Book Critics Circle.
About my libraryMy family and I have a huge personal library; our home is basically a library, with more books than some small-town public libraries.
