hi
just finished reading [Race to the Polar Sea] by Ken McGoogan, the fascinating story of the 'heroic adventures and romantic obsessions of Elisha Kent Kane'. (author's quotes).
As a Canadian, I had heard about Kane, but never really thought much about him until recently when this new book was published and I read a review.
What a character he was, and how much he contributed towards both Arctic and Canadian history. I had read a novel a few months back called The Terror, that fancified Franklins voyage to the arctic seas, another extremely good book, but fiction of course.
I was interested in Kane's own writings of his voyage and came across another LThinger, yourself, who had his book [Arctic Adventures] and just thought I would drop you a line to let you know you are not alone!
