About meI am a librarian and a yoga student, yoga practitioner and yoga teacher in the Satyananda Yoga tradition. I am also a bookaholic!!
About my libraryMy library, the Saraswati Library (Mitra Yoga Centre), which is associated with the Saraswati Library (Satyananda Yoga Academy Australia) - see LibraryThing 'Groups' - is my personal library of Yoga and related books, notably Tantra, Hinduism, and Indology, which I make available for loan to students and teachers of Satyananda Yoga Australia.
I have lots of other reading interests and books and one day I will get around to 'LibraryThinging' those! My main book collections, in addition to yoga, are in the subject areas of spirituality and religion (Eastern and Western); women's/femininst spirituality; art/craft; poetry: women's poetry, Eastern/Oriental poetry including Haiku, and spiritual poetry such as by Rumi, Kabir, Hafiz, Gibran, Mirabai; nature/environment/sacred space/spiritual ecology; and vegetarianism / vegetarian cookery.
I read fiction very rarely and when I do, I usually loan this from libraries rather than buy and retain it. The one fiction book I have kept on my shelf for many years though, because it is truly wonderful, is the 'Mists of Avalon' by Marion Zimmer-Bradley. My other memorable fiction read was 'The Poisonwood Bible' by Barbara Kingsolver.
