About meI'm a 21 year old university student. I am still expanding my autism book collection, although my reading is going more slowly now due to the schoolwork I have to keep up with as well as the extracurriculars I am involved in.

I don't know, if I were in your position I would still have given it a try. I was so afraid to write to the author, out of fear of rejection, but she's just about the nicest person in the world. I'm sure that your reason is perfectly legitimate, and she's all about promoting the understanding of people with Asperger Syndrome. I think there may only be a problem if, considering the tons of buzz surrounding this book, she no longer has copies to give out.
I wrote an email to the author, saying how I find that most books about characters with Asperger Syndrome are really inaccurate (to me, at least), and that I read an excerpt from "Mockingbird" and it reminded me of my younger self. I told her that I really couldn't wait to get the book, and with no hassle, she sent me one.

I don't know if she's got any more copies to spare, but... hey, it's worth a shot. The book is marvelous, by the way. I've read it twice since I got it and it's even better the second time around.
