About meI've lived in Chicago for years and I'm from Iowa originally. When not reading, or sleeping/working/etc., I take photos, ride bicycles, cook, visit thrift stores, museums, ethnic groceries, 24-hour restaurants, parks, abandoned factories, and so on. I go to a lot of literary events and love writing and performing my work when I get a chance. I wish I made more art (since I was an art major).
About my libraryI own about 5000 books. Really. Of course I haven't read them all and many I just bought for the pictures. I own most books on this list and I've read or at least heavily skimmed through them all. I also have an amazing collection of vintage/kitschy books: Chicago guides, dating advice, recipe booklets, home ec, 1960s counterculture, etc. but I'm planning to put those on Flickr instead. You can recommend books, although I'm the kind of crazy book-obsessed person who could name 500 books I want to read ASAP. (500 books from the last decade or two--I neglect classic books terribly, I know.)
Browsing my list, it appears I'm rather cynical about the dating industry, wedding industry, diet industry, mental health industry, adoption industry, meat industry, and destroying-historic-buildings-and-farmla...
What do I LIKE? Apparently, witty short stories, crumbling buildings, fried tofu with peanut sauce, sassy feminists, and colorful things arranged in grids.

I have Ghostly Ruins, just haven't added it yet. I haven't added a lot of books yet, actually. The Museum of Science and Industry/Palace of Fine Arts photos from the 1893 Worlds Fair are facinating, I think. I'm shocked to learn that someone else owns the Chicago Public Works book--there's some good stuff in there, even if some of it is comically outdated, like the part that discusses moving the "L" underground. Yea, still waiting for that...
Thanks for the note, N.
