About meWhen I click the heels of my red slippery socks, LibraryThing is where I am. More specifically though, home is in the Hogwarts Express group where I spend most of my time here. I'm a twenty-eight-year-old who loves nothing more than to read, discuss books, or spend time with some wonderful people, some of which I've met here. I enjoy many genres, be it YA, fantasy, classics, historical, or fictional twists of well-loved books. Books with maps are marvelous, just so long as they're not on my ereader! I will enthusiastically dig into books to reorganize or reshelf them, because what can I say? Tagging and other forms of organization are my friends. So was this special guy for seven years. Rowling wasn't kidding about that being a magical number.

Books I've Read:
You're more than welcome to my 2012 book challenge thread or my book blog. This is my book count for this year:

My Winter (Re/)Reading List

Eagerly Anticipated Releases
05/01/12: Kristin Cashore: Bitterblue
05/01/12: Veronica Roth: Insurgent
06/19/12: Richelle Mead: The Golden Lily

About my libraryI don't own every book I have cataloged (check here), so if there is a book I share with you, it may be one I have owned in the past or one on my wishlist.

eBooks
I always said I was set against them, but this fall I received an eReader and I love it. My Kobo (2nd generation) holds over one hundred of my books, which have been cataloged under my eBooks collection. If you're curious which eBooks were free, I've tagged them for viewing here.

View My Bookshelves
You can view a history of my bookshelves, which I say is a history because I doubt any of the photos are up-to-date. I have, however, slapped in a photo of my Kobo to be amusing, just because silliness is fun from time to time.

Thank K! It is good to hear from you. I have avoided the book thinking it is an HP knockoff, but It came out before all the hysteria. A girl at my booksellers highly recommended it, so I thought I would give it a try. I will let you know if it is any good.
Enjoy the rest of your summer!
Glad the link helped! My husband doesn't have an ereader, although he does have an iPad that he could use. But like me, he doesn't like sustained reading on the backlit screen.

I too have caught grief from folks over my ereading habit, but just because I have a NOOK doesn't mean I don't still buy books in paper. In fact, because I can get ebooks from the library, I've bought more paper books than ebooks this year despite owning an ereader! However, those that I do buy in paper I usually get for a discount at library conferences (vendor stalls on exhibit floors are dangerous things!!) or used, which doesn't help bookstores only selling new stuff. But as NOOK owner, I take some comfort in knowing that my ebook purchases help a company that still operates books and mortar stores.

Oh, I realize this is a long way off, but there's a reasonable chance I'll be in your part of California again next June, and then almost definitely in June 2015, both times for conference-related travel. Next time I'm there I'd love to plan a meet up with you and LG! As things come together, I'll keep you posted. :)

Happy reading!
Hi K! Since I know you have a Kobo reader, I wanted to be sure you'd seen this: http://infodocket.com/2011/07/20/ebooks-kobo-comments-on-liquidation-of-borders-.... It came through one of my work news feeds. My husband was asking me last night what the Borders closing meant for Kobo owners and I had to explain all the differences...wish I'd seen this to share last night! Happy Reading!!!!!!
Knowing the twins, they won't listen about the age thing, but....
*sighs*
Um, just wondering, so Alexis and Annie want to get an account, but aren't sure, because I always complain about how everyone's older than me. They are 12 (13 on November 30... They are lucky enough to have the same birthday as Dougie Poynter, my screenname-sake :P)
So, I wanted to ask, should they actually join, or are they just too young? (They are quite mature for their age, so...)
Just wanted your opinion....
Thanks!
Oh, and by the way, yes it is fun living with twins... When they are not being obnoxious because I can't remember which is which. They are completely identical, and they get soooo mad when people get their names mixed up (It doesn't help that their names are Alexis and Annie :P)
"Once you have HoHs for your group, too, and thus, some sub-leaders in your group, I think everyone may see you as a more sharing-kind-of-person, something I bet you are!" Yes, I need HoH, prefects, and teachers to share the authority. I'm ambitious and whatever, but I'm really not the person to be all bossy. I really wanna get along with people here...
About the House of Night thing--I think it's a great idea :) I love House of Night, it's my favourite series, so.... XD
Ok, I've got a lot of things to say about that:
1. 'Abused' is so not the word. I correct people's spelling sometimes (I don't bother with grammar), but only if tehy slple lkie tihs (They spell like this...). I was not trying to be rude.
2. I have twin 12-year-old sisters. Them and their friends swear nonstop, and have incredibly twisted minds. I also have an eight year old brother who also says pretty... awful stuff (you don't even wanna know O.o)I myself am only 16 (17 June 1st) and I don't have that bad language. I would understand you telling me to watch my language with ten year olds, but thirteen year olds are a lot worse than I am :P
3. If you and biblioholic don't like me, and you two are both older, respected members, then, sooner or later, everyone will hate me too. I may as well leave, saving myself the trouble. I don't like being mean to people. I am a nice person, for the most part (some people can just really get on my nerves). But I REALLY hate people being mean to me. And biblioholic's post seemed mean to me. I was really hurt when she said all that. So, I know you guys are older in real life, been around LT longer, and are supposedly 'better' than a stupid noob like me, but at LEAST tell her to try to be nice.
4. My name is Tabitha. I love cats, and I got my nickname both from my actual name, and the fact that (sadly) in second grade, I used to wear cat ears (headband...) people called me 'Tabby Cat' which shortened to 'Tabby' and the nickname stuck.

~Tabby

....I know most of that sounded stupid, but I really, REALLY don't care.
Thanks for the information on both the group trip and the blogger website. That would be cool if everyone could do a group trip to the Wizarding World. I'm suppose to graduate in 2012 with my Bachelor's degree. So I may be mentioning something along those lines tot he group soon. :)
Oh I forgot to add to the last message, how do you like that blogger website? I took a look at yours, I'm thinking about doing something similar for book reviews and such. Since I'm getting pretty deeply involved into the literary world.
Wow, I've never been to California, or the West coast for that matter, unless you count Alaska. Yeah Definitely trying to go back next year when funds are gathered up. Maybe all of the group could get together and go again (provided everyone can get together).
Did those group members go last December? I was there last July shortly after it opened. My husband has a extra credit assignment that dealt with Universal Studios so we went. Though the assignment took all day. I had a blast. I didn't get to go in the Hogwarts Castle (with ride) they had a long line. I'm hoping to go again maybe next summer. As I don't live too far from it. (About 1.5 hour drive) :)
Thank you. I love the group. I'm a big Harry Potter nerd, have all the books, movies, and I'm seen the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal (though I want to go again). I love the hangman discussion though I can't solve the current puzzle yet..lol. That group is great!
Thank you for the invite to the Hogwarts Express group (If I read that right). :)
I'm not sure it matters for some of the other books, but I do think starting with the Lives of Christopher Chant was a good idea--in some of the other books, the Chrestomanci isn't really the main character, he just turns up eventually. But the books are fun, and I'm glad I finally read them (for the first time this past year). I want to read Howl's Moving Castle, too, but there are so many books I want to read! I've recently started The Name of the Wind, the first in a new fantasy series that's gotten great reviews (and it is good, as far as I've gotten), but I also have two ER books to read, only they are parts of mystery series, and I want to start each series from the beginning. I also have The Song of Fire and Ice, the first book in the Game of Thrones series, and now that's started on HBO, I want to read that book, too! If only there were nothing else to do . . .

So far totally in love with the Nook; just finished my book club book, Huckleberry Finn, on it.

K,

Saw your comment on Foggi's wall about the Chrestomanci series; have to say that I read them more chronologically and I'm glad I did. So I started with The Lives of Christopher Chant. Either way, though, I'm sure you'll enjoy them--they're so lighthearted, really, and charming.

Elizabeth
Thanks for your comment. As for the order of the Chrestomanci chronicles, I'd say go with publication order -- just keep in mind that they jump around, rather than going chronologically!

Thanks also for your good wishes today -- I have a phone interview, as well as the people to look at the house, so it's going to be a busy one!
THANK YOU!!! Addison and I love our presents. She is wearing hers today! It's so cute!! I put a picture in the Loot thread. The bookmark is perfect -- you always give the best bookmarks. The magnetic knitting one you gave me a couple years ago is still one of my favorites too. I love the design of both the journal and necklace. You make jewelry, don't you? Was the bookmark or necklace of your making? Thanks again! You're wonderful!
