About meI am a forty-two years old divorced father of two daughters, who now are fifteen and twelve years old. Their mother and I are divorced. My life partner, Pat, and I have been together since 2000 and were joined in civil union in Vermont in 2003. He is a year younger than I am and is also divorced with two children. I am a lifelong Kentucky resident but have traveled in Europe and extensively in the USA. History and government are of interest to me so that is what I studied in college before I went to law school, earning both degrees at the University of Kentucky. My legal career involves child protection and permanency. I spend my free time researching my ancestry and enjoy college football and basketball. I would like to be a better tennis player but I do enjoy being on the tennis court. My favorite sources for news are The Washington Post newspaper and Newsweek magazine and I like to listen to National Public Radio. I like to read fiction by John Grisham, Scott Turrow, James Patterson and Steve Martini and progressive theology books by John Shelby Spong. I am active in my church, of the mainline Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) denomination, where I lead a progressive Christianity study group. I find inspiration in "The Progressive Christian" magazine and my favorite religion community is The Center for Progressive Christianity. My politics lean left of center and I am proud to call myself both a "liberal" and a "progressive." My favorite sources of political discussion and news are MSNBC television and also "The Nation" and "The Progressive" magazines. My favorite drink is an iced green tea with sugarfree hazelnut syrup and I love sweet potatoes. Autumn is my favorite season and green is my color of choice. Go Cats!
