About meI love to read, although I have found recently that between teaching full time and being a single mom, my reading time has become even more precious (and rare). I love holding a "real" book in my hands, but I must admit that the Kindle is a pretty amazing invention. I love that I can always have my most recent "book" right with me, so when I find myself with a few moments to myself it doesn't go to waste.

Aside from reading I love to travel, and have even lived the life of an expat -- an experience I highly recommend not just for the experience but for the appreciation it allows one to have for home.

As much as I love to travel, my favorite place to be is home, and I have been blessed with an extremely close, supportive, and loving family. I am Mama to an incredible young lady who has brought so much joy to my life. She and I share home with a chocolate lab puppy (I'm told once she reaches the age of seven she'll have outgrown her puppyhood), and two cats who both adore the dog but hate each other. Needless to say, home is never dull.

About my libraryI'm one of those people who finds it very difficult to part with my books, therefore my physical library is an eclectic mix of old textbooks (I was a history major, so these actually come in handy to fact-check books I read), mysteries (anything from Sherlock Holmes to Cozies), historical fiction (my favorite genre while a student), biographies (mostly of historical figures, but I was also a huge Princess Diana fan back in the day), and anything by Dan Brown (or Dan Brown-like).

My Kindle library is also pretty diverse, and thanks to daily e-book deals and freebies I've branched out and given other genres a try. For me reading is an escape from the craziness and stress of real life, so for that reason I usually stick with books that give me that happily ever after ending most of us want.

As a mom and animal lover, I find any books in which children and pets are victimized to be very disturbing. I am also not a fan of horror, however I do admit that the premise of many horror books seem intriguing. For example, I love the J. A Konrath Jack Daniels series, but I have not been able to read any of his horror books but I'd love to find someone who has so she/he can give me a quick summary of them, skipping all the gory details, since the story lines sound really interesting.
