About meI'm a 19 year old girl living & breathing in Derby, England.
My main interests are in Art, Philosophy, Psychology, dancing, music, films, poetry, nature, politics, photography, books & being creative. I am having a new found love affair with the Folio Society & we are very happy together...unless it ends up taking me for every penny I've got! I am particulary fond of silliness & baking tasty things. I am NOT fond of Jeremy Clarkson or politicians.

About my libraryMy library only contains one book & shall probably stay that way. My book fetish is currently being recorded on

Hey Lucia! Long time no post! 8^P Hope all is well. I think you were wondering when/if the FS would publish a letterpress Romeo and Juliet. Looks like it's coming in April 2010...
I just wanted to let you know that the lovely Victoira & Albert Coulour Books arrived. Thanks again for turning me on to them and for generously taking all the pictures of them.
Wow! Thanks so much for your comments and taking all the lovely photos. This set has now moved to my must have list, and I've found a copy for a very reasonable amount on amazon.com. I'm beginning to suspect, though, that finding this group is going to be very bad for me . . .
that is great lady lulu, thank you again.
My real name is David, yosarian is the main character's name from my favourite book Catch 22 :)
Have you ever considered sending examples of your work to the Folio Society? Seems as though "your style would be suitable" for them. Also seems as though they're open to submissions, as per the following on their web site:

"Illustration Submissions

"At The Folio Society we pride ourselves on using the best illustrators, carefully selected for each edition. If, after looking at our books, you feel your style would be suitable for us, please send examples of appropriate work in one of the following ways:

"1. Send printed samples of your work to Illustration Submissions, The Folio Society, 44 Eagle Street, London, WC1R 4FS. If you require samples sent back, you must include a stamped addressed envelope. No applications can be accepted on CD or DVD.

"2. Email a few lo-res jpegs of work (email not to exceed 6MB) or send a
a web-link to illustration@foliosociety.com.

"We endeavour to reply to all submissions, as time allows."

Just a thought . . .
That's very kind lady lulu, thank you. don't bother going to any special trouble, just when you're next ready that'd be great. I showed the images to my girlfriend as well and she loved them, she makes jewelery to sell at local craft fairs, she thinks you could do the same with your art!
thanks again.
They are on their way... 8^P
Hello there my Lady Friend. In honor of your bookmark gifts, would you be interested in the Folio Society 3 volume Myths and Legends of Britain? Let me know and I'll ship 'em out to you. They recently became a duplicate when I found a nice copy of the out of print single volume FS edition.
Your bookmarks are awesome! The Gift honors the Giver. You are a wonderful artist! Thank you so much.
Well, my state voted against him, but my household voted for him. So we're happy.

Hello!

Just got the package and the bookmarks are really sweet. Thanks!

rob
On my bookshelves, the "to read" list outnumbers the "have read" list by a multiple I don't even want to consider. So I can relate.

Meanwhile, I'm using all the restraint I can muster not to send links to Web pages with pics of my daughter. It's a tough task to NOT be one of those people who show off their kids at every opportunity. Seriously.

Anyway, when she's five, I'll try to introduce her to some alcoholics so that she'll enjoy Cabret more.

rob
Well, I didn't mean that you had to send us anything. I was just saying that we liked them.

Which did we like the best? She liked the one you labelled "first one" and the one with the girl and the rabbit and the tall trees. I liked both the tall trees ones, boy and girl. But you don't have to send them, seriously. If we lived in England, I wouldn't mind, but postage to the US is a bit silly.
Yay! Glad it made it. This comment thing seems to be slow, 'cause I just got your message today, the 10th of October.

Anyway, please do let me know what you think.

By the way, I had a look at the bookmarks you made and they're really nice. My wife and I were cooing over them a bit.

Take care,

rob
Ok, I'll send it out this week. Not sure how long it'll take, so please let me know when you get it. And let me know if you like it, too. I'm curious.

rob
Hello, just wanted to let you know I love the first quote you have on your flickr page... and compliment you on your talents!
Funny that there are so many LTers with only one book reported in their libraries, and who share however this book (TLOTR)! Best wishes. François
