About meYears of study in Religious Science and the dharma have given me a thorough grounding in metaphysics and spirituality. In the course of my work as an intuitive counselor and speaker, i've collected and used many illuminating quotations which i share in Wisdom for the Soul: Five Millennia of Prescriptions for Spiritual Healing.
I've been, in turn and simultaneously, an artist, designer, editor, activist, trader, consultant and restauranteur - and now publisher. Exiled from Jamaica, i was granted asylum based on sexual orientation by the US, and now live in Washington, DC.
I had been working on a novel but put that aside to compile Wisdom which won the 2006 USABookNews Best Books Award for Non-Fiction Anthology. I subsequently completed Wisdom for the Soul of Black Folk, and am currently working on Wisdom for the Soul of Queer Folk, for publication by Gnosophia. I've written essays, poetry, blogs and host a website promoting the Jamaican language.
My most recent foray, and what keeps me up nights, has been in the area of urban sustainability when i founded EcolocityDC in 2008.
About my libraryNaturally, i feature my own creations but the rest of my library will reflect my eclectic, off-the-wall taste. I read mostly non-fiction in psychology, spirituality especially Zen, sustainability, new physics, microbiology. What little fiction i get to is heavily weighted in favor of authors of color.
