About meThough most of my life I seem to have lived to read, I find I'm becoming increasingly fussier. I give up reading books all the time and cannot stand cliched plotlines or circumstances, or books that seem to bow readers' romantic sentiments or ideals. A villain doesn't necessarily have to be dark and enigmatic and too cool for words. Lovers don't have to be perfect and amazingly heroic to boot... If I feel I'm being too much led to believe in the author's own fantasies, I don't much like it. Sometimes it seems to be a question of the writer falling in love with their own creations. I've explained that so badly and must sound like I hate most books. I don't. Every reader their book, and every book their reader. No book or story is ever wasted unless untold.
