About meI'm in my early thirties and married. I commute in to London for work each day, so get a good chunk of time to read - bliss!

About my libraryI've always had what most 'normal' people would call a large collection of books, but looking at some of the libraries here, I can see I've got a long way to go. I blame my parents (of course!) selling my childhood home while I was living in a house share, which meant that a lot of stuff had no place to go other than the charity shop... I'm now in a home of my own with plenty of space for shelving, and am steadily rebuilding my collection.

My other half's library thing can be found here.

Great. Send me your e-mail address (mine is mail@christophertusa.com), and I'll send you the e-book version of the book.

Thanks,

Chris
Not interested, Lizzie G?
Not to worry; it's all okay.
Group reads aren't for everyone.
I hope you are reading something really great at the moment.

Noticed you liked Clockwork Orange, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here as well as a few other book-related sites. Thought you might like my book since it's also about a group of violent kids (and also a bit dark). I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like (I'm out of physical copies at the moment). Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary (and a sample chapter) in case you'd like to read more about the book before you commit:

Hi;
Mark and I have been discussing the possibility of another group read in November and want your input. We have narrowed it down to two books at this point. "The People of the Book" by Geraldine Brooks and "The Thirteenth Tale" by Diane Setterfield. So chat it up with friends or us and let us know if you are up for it and what you think. Probably the same plan as with "Pillars of the Earth" which seemed to work out perfectly for almost all of us.
Think it over and give one of us a shout.
hugs and looking forward to hearing from you,

WHY doesn't this thing print my whole message???????
I was trying to give you a link to my other book community, The Reader's Place, and maybe that was the culprit.
Anyway, I know all about TBR stacks. At TRP we refer to it as "Mt. Bookpile." Mine is divided into Everest, K2, Aconcagua, Whitney, Mitchell - you get the idea. I hope that you will make time for Bleak House someday. The PBS series was pretty good as far as it went, but *BH* is such a big book that they necessarily left out great numbers of wonderful sub-plots.
Cheers and trying again!
Peggy
Thanks for the tip about Mr. Whicher. I knew that CD based Inspector Bucket on some real person but hadn't given him another thought. At my other book community (
Oh, now you've done it! I'm sorry about the bad experience with CD in high school...... I would never assign him to a high school student anyway. Was it Great Expectations that you were forced to read or not read? Most people think that's a pretty good place to start; it's not one of my favorites. Bleak House is my favorite and a beginning one if you can tolerate the leisurely writing of the Victorians. Actually, if you can't tolerate the leisurely pace, you probably won't like CD at all. I think he's wonderful even with his soppy young women. He's funny and profound and the writing itself is inspired. I see that we have Barnaby Rudge in common, and I certainly wouldn't start there. MORE THAN YOU WANTED TO KNOW!!!

Hi, LizzieG! I have a little spare time and thought I'd visit.... My "Lizzie" is for Lizzie Hexam in Our Mutual Friend and the "D" is for Dickens. Are you actually an Elizabeth (my favorite woman's name)? If so, I'm jealous. My name really is

I understand the rainy and work thing as I live in the Pacific Northwest of the States and it rains here most of the time, even during baseball season. (Sucks for the little kids)
I was happy to get your response as I had not heard that particular Atwood discussed so now I can read with confidence. Thank you very much.
And the Blind Robber/Blind Assassin (which I have but have not yet read as I am using the library until my $80.00 card runs out---then I will hit my shelves again)---anyway, is that the difference in the U.K. and U.S. names of the same book?
Thank you for responding and try to stay dry if "foggy London town"

Hi LizzieG,
I just newly picked up your thread for some reason (I think you joined before I did) and one of the first books your read of the year was "Cat's Eye" by Margaret Atwood. I grabbed it at the library last week (along with about 15 others) and just wondered how you found it. I've not started it yet and am just curious.
Thanx a bunch and I hope you are having a marvelous day.

I certainly did! I'm a LibraryThing fiend... :) I shall enjoy nosing about your library too!

Kirsty
Well spotted! Yes it is me. Small (virtual) world.

Off to have a nose at your library now. :-)
