About meGrowing up in the Bay Area of Northern California, Lorena Bathey attended St. Mary’s College in Moraga graduating with a degree in English. Then she traveled, learned about life, and developed great fodder for a book. Losing her mother to cancer and her own marriage’s demise brought her to find herself. She wrote Happy Beginnings: How I Became My Own Fairy Godmother (www.amazon.com) and found speaking and empowering others was her passion.

Lorena Bathey found after writing her first book that characters were visiting her mind and wouldn't leave. She was introduced to Marissa, Andrea, Lily, Deidre and Beatrice and her first novel, Beatrice Munson, came to life. After finishing that book she was inspired to write more novels and she knew that pursuing her passion was the best way to live her life. So a writer she became.

After meeting the love of her life, they embarked on the thrilling life to follow their dreams bringing their families along for the ride. Today Lorena has nine novels in her writing queue all with screenplays in the works.

But writing isn't the only muse that inspires Lorena. She has become a passionate photographer and likes to push the envelope taking shots while learning how to navigate Photoshop. Travel, walking, enjoying new restaurants, and Italy are other loves and things she makes sure she has time for.

About my libraryReading has been my passion since I was a little girl. The books I've enjoyed are endless and still pursuing great reads!

They sure are my tattoos :)
Yes that helps a lot Lorena! I appreciate it. Right now, I'm working on building my Twitter platform, as that seems to be the start for everything. I keep hearing if I don't have three or four books out that I shouldn't be marketing at all, but writing, so getting my third book written is my main focus right now. Unfortunately, I have a day job too, so I can't churn them out like I'd like to. Would you be open to sharing with me a little bit about how you actually created your company once I get that far? It won't be for several months before I start working on that aspect, but it'd be cool to have a friend who knows the ropes.

Let me know if you have anything you want tweeted or posted. I try to do a lot of author support through Twitter, so you just need to send me the link and I'll post it!

my email is alichtenhan@yahoo.com ~ might be an easier way to communicate :)

Thanks for all the insight
Hi Lorena,

I would be happy to be your friend.

You have clearly been busy getting 111 books into your library in only three days. Well done.

Have fun,
Dave
My publisher has complete rights to my books at this point. I get the rights back to Pulled in February (not for 5 years on Take This Regret, which is a bummer!), which I'm then planning on doing it myself. Okay, the question I've never gotten a real answer for is what is considered "self-published." If I were to start an actual company which also publishes my own books, is it still considered "self-published." Not that I think self-published is bad, but just the term itself has such a stigma.

And thank you for the compliment!
My link is http://amzn.to/AmyLichtenhan-Amazon I think his ideas are sound as well. My only issue is my publisher has my ebooks priced way too high for his strategies to work, although I've been able to employ some of them. I'm doing a lot of research on the whole self-publishing thing. I'd actually love to pick your brain - did you create your own company? I was trying to figure out how to do a start-up Indie Pub company as I have several other author friends who I might want to publish.

Amy
I've read John Locke's How I Sold...really interesting stuff!
Hey Lorena ~ It looks like you figured out how to make yourself an author page? Mine says you're an author :) Now you can go in and add a photo (I'd use either your pic or a pic of the cover of a book you're promoting) and update the rest of your profile. Are you a member of Goodreads? I use Goodreads much more than LibraryThing. It seems to be more user friendly.

I'm with a smaller publisher, so even though we're not really considered indie, we call ourselves indie. You?

My first two books were contemporary romances, but I'm working on a dark fantasy series right now (Maybe not your thing?!). I'd love to compare notes. Are you on twitter? I'm www.twitter.com/midnitemurmurer

Talk to you soon!
Hi Lorena ~ Welcome! I'm pretty new here myself, so I'm just figuring this out too. We'll have to keep each other posted :) What types of books do you typically read? I'm romance all the time! Look forward to chatting with you!
