About me Married mom/step mom of 4; daughter 21 and son 17/ Stepsons 21 and 19. DH is a Baltimore City Firefighter. I teach reading interventions in middle school and I am the assistant director of an after school program for at risk teens. I also go to school part time. My plate is full.
I do love music, good dirty jokes, and Baltimore Ravens football. I am slightly addicted to Pogo.com and now obsessed with Scrabulous.com. Who doesn't love Scrabble??
About my library I do tend to read a lot of the young adult fantasy we have in our media center so I can recommend (or not) books to my students.
***I am a true Harry Potter geek and I would like to personally thank J.K. Rowling for making the whole world read..especially my daughter.***
I am very interested in the more "adult" fantasy though and if anyone has any recommendations please drop me a note.
** Whoever was so kind as to recommend Outlander by Diana Gabaldon...I love you. It has become my obsession. Now, if I could just find me a 6'4" Scot in a kilt I can cross something off my bucket list.

I think I will go read Outlander . sounds good.
I have just finished reading Katharine Kerr's Deverry series. Can highly recommend it.. if you like a good long read. 14 books so far i think...I lost count ;0) .Still waiting for the last one to be written. It's celtic so that might appeal to you if you haven't already read it.
My other favourite is Cecilia Dart- Thorntons' Bitterbynde Trilogy. I've seen mixed reviews in here but I loved it. Beautifully crafted characters, an achingly poignant love story and a lots of faeries and other dangerous things. Some great prose that others have described as 'purple'. I loved it! Catch you in the Green Dragon some time!

just wanted to say thanks for your not on Gabaldon's series! It was the time -travel that convinced me to get the first one and I've reserved the next one at the library. Maybe I can find some used ones on Amazon... money is a bit short these days (so what's new!)
BTW - I still enjoy the 40 somethings, but have just been lurking around in a quiet mood. It's a fun group in there!

I've just poked my head into the 40 Somethings for the first time in a loooong while, and I saw your posts about Outlander! I bought the unabridged audio book last year (first one) and loved it. Now you've convinced me to get the rest. Her writing is such a nice balance of the things I love to read about. Thanks for reminding me how good it was.
