Yes, we've jut started experimenting with some of the picture books based on chapter books. So far, our favorites are the rather difficult to find Paddington books which were actually written by Michael Bond himself. Wilbur's Adventure was a little long for my just turned three-year-old and didn't really grab me though I plan to look for Some Pig in a few months. We've had mixed experiences with the first Little House books as well.
