Welcome to San Diego Bibliophiles! Thank you for joining. I hope you find some good stuff!
We liked Dance at Grandpa's better than Deer in the Woods (which though it might appeal to current sentiment, was not practical at the time and therefore bothers me). Sounds like your reasons for venturing into the picture book versions are similar to my own. Searching for the illustrator (R W Alley was the most recent) might make it easier to find the Paddington picture books - San Diego's catalog can be quirky. Georgia turned 3 in September. She still needs the illustrations on every page to keep her interest though I've been looking for other chapter story books like Paddington where each chapter stands by itself.
Hello -

Yes, we've jut started experimenting with some of the picture books based on chapter books. So far, our favorites are the rather difficult to find Paddington books which were actually written by Michael Bond himself. Wilbur's Adventure was a little long for my just turned three-year-old and didn't really grab me though I plan to look for Some Pig in a few months. We've had mixed experiences with the first Little House books as well.
