About meI am (by choice) a building substitute for a high school outside of Philadelphia. I live downtown, but work in the Mainline suburbs. My undergrad degrees are in Education and Literature with minors in YA Lit and Poetry. I did my Education thesis on Code Switching and the importance of allowing students to maintain their familial vernacular. I did my English thesis on Ellis's *American Psycho* as a work of anti-genre. I will be starting my grad work in Library Science at Drexel in January 2009.

My husband and I own a ridiculous amount of books (if you count the comic books, we're somewhere near 2000 tomes)and have turned the spare bedroom into a library using Ikea shelves. This amounts to having a room that smells deliciously of unfinished wood, paper, and ink.

About my libraryThe only real criteria I had for creating this library was that I must be able to hold a critical dialogue about all of the books I chose to include. So - you can ask me about any of the books and I can say something intelligent about it. Some of them I can say a lot about, others not quite as much.

Noticed you liked The Virgin Suicides, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here as well as a few other book-related sites. Thought you might like my book since it's also about a dysfunctional family and a bit dark. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like (I'm out of physical copies at the moment). Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:

Out In The Fields With God

The little cares that fretted me,
I lost them yesterday,
Among the fields above the sea,
Among the winds at play,
Among the lowing of the herds,
The rustling of the trees,
Among the singing of the birds,
The humming of the bees.

The foolish fears of what might pass,
Among the clover-scented grass,
Among the new-mown hay,
Among the hushing of the corn
Where drowsy poppies nod,
Where ill thoughts die and good are born -
Out in the fields with God.

Glad to know I played a role in letting you know you'd won the Breaking Dawn contest!

I really appreciate what you said about my reviews; thanks. I wish I could write more of them, but I'm not good at doing short reviews, so if I'm going to do one, it takes me a while, and usually that's time I'd rather spend reading!
Hi there! Just found your profile via the Breaking Dawn winners announcement (congrats, btw), and had to let you know that I too am a Molly Beth! Although I only go by my first name, one of my nicknames from my family was Molly Beth (Beth being shortened from my full middle name, Elizabeth). Interestingly enough, I was also an undergrad English major, and finished my MLIS in December 2006!! Anyway, just wanted to share the coincidence. Have a super weekend! :o)
After I posted my review of The Eyre Affair, I started reading through some of the others and noticed you had said something very similar just the day before. I know I'm not crazy for disliking it so much--but still, it's good to know that someone else who should've liked it didn't, either.
I saw your comment about how much you enjoy All of a Kind Family by Sydney Taylor. I highly recommend Confessions of a Closet Catholic by Sarah Darer Littman. It won the Sydney Taylor Book Award in 2006. It's about a Jewish girl who decides to give up Judaism for Lent to be more like her Catholic best friend. You'll laugh, you'll cry - I guarantee you'll love it! Rachel Kamin, Chair, Sydney Taylor Book Award Committee
Just thought I'd drop you a line because we share a lot of books, notably a love for Faustus. We also share a career, I'm an English and Drama teacher for 12-18 year olds. As you say, well paid and a good excuse to read lots of new books. Just wish sometimes the curriculum would catch up to include some of the newer titles.
