About meI am a doctoral candidate in history at the University of Texas at Arlington. I also teach in the museum studies department of a private university.

About my libraryI am in the process of cataloging the library of books that my husband and I have acquired over the past twenty plus years. While we have selected most of these books, more than a few have selected us.

Hello,
I just added the cover for Bride's First Recipes -- it's got a good basic Chili recipe in there among other things.
Hi! I just noticed your collection of antebellum tags. I think I'll be picking up a few of those at my library. Thanks for the (inadvertent) recc's!
I finally got my own copy of Taylor's British and American Abolitionists! Hooray!
Sorry for the belated reply to your reply! Good luck at the Boston Public Library next year. I did spend about five weeks there in 2004 doing research. It is an enormous collection, and I could easily go back several more times. Luckily, the old-fashioned card catalog is incredibly well organized and cross-referenced. My strategy was to spend the first two or three days with the catalog creating a master list of documents I wanted to see. Then I would fill out request slips in the evenings while at home so that I wouldn't waste time in the archive on that. I just came in every day with a huge stack of request slips and plodded through them. Hope you enjoy it! It's a nice place to work, and Boston is my favorite East Coast city -- it's great both for bibliophiles and abolitionophiles.
Hi Julie,
I bet that by the time you get your books entered the number of items we share will much higher.

Keep plugging away at this, and your dissertation of course.
Alex
It looks like we share some similar historical interests, particularly in abolitionism. I'm trying very hard not to be envious of the fact that you own a copy of Clare Taylor's British and American Abolitionists--I've worn out my library's copy while writing my dissertation! Although you can't tell it from my profile, I'm also a transplanted Texan. So, er, howdy!
