About meUntil I get a chance to put in something of actual value in here (as if that would ever happen), I'll share a paragraph I very much liked, from Tobias Wolfe's Old School; very simple and straightforward, yet quite touching:

That was the sweetest spring of all my years there. An early shock of heat forced the leaves and blossoms to a lushness that came to seem downright tropical when the chemistry master's parrot escaped into an elm overlooking the quad. There he preened his bright feathers and stridently mocked us until starvation humbled him to earth, where he sold his freedom for a groundsman's peanut butter sandwich.

About my librarySlowly cataloging my books whenever I am in the mood.

Like most everyone on LT, I buy more books than I end up reading; still, my actual read/bought ratio has been steadily improving to the point where it's approaching 1.

I no longer read as much SF and Fantasy as I used to, so less newer books of those genres.
