Favorite authorsDavid Liss, Wallace Stegner (Shared favorites)

About meI started regularly reading when very young and it has been my favorite escape/entertainment ever since. One of the best things about being a parent was that I got to read my favorite children's books all over again. People study psychology or sociology to learn about human nature but to me it is all there in literature. The gift that a writer has to stop you in your tracks with an arresting image or to turn a microscope upon a familiar situation is one of life's greatest talents.

About my libraryWhen I started librarything, I concentrated on listing my favorites to begin with, then began adding books as I have read them. I have read every book listed. My rating system is
***** Must read, perfect
**** Excellent book
*** Good book, worth a read
** Marginally worth reading
* Not worth reading

Out In The Fields
by Elizabeth Barrett Browning

The little cares that fretted me,
I lost them yesterday
Among the fields above the sea,
Among the winds that play,
Among the lowing of the herd,
The rustling of the trees,
Among the singing of the birds,
The humming of the bees.

The foolish fears of what might pass
I cast them all away
Among the clover-scented grass,
Among the new-mown hay,
Among the hushing of the corn,
Where drowsy poppies nod,
Where ill thoughts die and good are born-
Out in the fields of God.
