And now we have Mothering Without a Map in common, too.

My sister gave me that one as a gift, snuck it out to me so our mom couldn't see it.

Tell me I'm not the only person who wanted, by the end of the book, to tell Black to get over her bad childhood already. Because I wanted to, a LOT, but then felt incredibly guilty about my response. Because really. How radically inappropriate.
I love that we both have "Now Everybody Really Hates Me."

Totally perfect overlap if you ask me. Makes me smile.
Only a couple of Colwin's books are short stories. Happy All the Time, Goodbye Without Leaving, and A Big Storm Knocked It Over are all novels you might like.
Phantom, have you read any Laurie Colwin? I think you might like her books. Try "Happy All the Time" (fiction), or "Home Cooking" (essays about cooking).
Up to 26 now... one more bookshelf to go!
Hi Phantom! You have a lot of books I want to check out. And some that I love but don't own (like "Love, Stars, and All That" - I didn't know anyone else who's read it!)
We're up to 15! Two more bookcases to go...
Hmmmm. We share 13 children's books (I have the 13th Harry Potter twice, because that was the book that came out about 3 weeks earlier in England and I ordered through Amazon.co.uk) and five adult books so far. That's not bad at all, really.
Oops, we're sharing five. When we have coffee, we'll have to talk Said. HAHAHAHAHA.
We're up to four, and I'm done with the academic shelves (almost). Now I have to fight off the urge to cart down the fiction boxes from the attic. You know I'm going to lose that battle, though.
Yup. Foucault is par for the course. *grin*
Now it's up to three! (It'll be interesting to see the total when I'm done.)
Hey Phantom! We've got (at least for now) a book in common!
Oh, I love Millay. Her letters are great, too. That sonnet "Love is not all: it is not meat, nor drink" is just dynamite.

I don't know that particular Jarrell; I take it I'd better look it up?
Hi, Phantom! I second Julie. You rock. So does Bishop.
