About meI'm a 56 year old "flower child" very close to becoming an old fart! I grew up in a small Texas town, moved away to college and have been a librarian for the past 30+ years. My partner (a retired physician - thank you Lord!) and I live in Dallas with three schnauzers (one giant and two standards) and watch all three CSI's!

About my libraryI have many "first gay novels" that appeared in the mid to late seventies. Gay novels were an event back then, especially those that garnered attention in the non-gay press: FAGGOT, DANCER FROM THE DANCE and others. These days you can't swing a cat in a bookstore without knocking over a whole rack of gay novels. I know that's progress, but, gee whiz, Wally, I miss the old days.

These days I buy very little fiction, but I use the Dallas Public Library heavily. Books that I read but do not buy are tagged READONLY in my library.

I also track movies I've watched with a NETFLIX tag, and have my CD's cataloged with a CD tag.

I always get a kick out of finding that someone in Library Thing has the same weird book that I do.

We have a couple duplicate copies of Merrick's The Lord Won't Mind. I noticed it's on your wish list. I'm willing to trade it for something we don't already have. Let me know if you are interested.
Makes senses! I've always struggled with how best to organize the books on the shelves -- not such a problem with databases, becuase you can always use search to find things. But at home...
Problem is compounded when one moves many times over the years (I have), and changes partners and relationships and combines libraries (several times here). AND, being a retired libraian, there's that nagging need to be organized..
Interesting. I've just started cataloguing mine, and I'm starting mostly with the Gay lit -- but have so much more. Question: what is your tag FICOLIT?
Excuse this intrusion, but I thought you might like to be made aware of the new E.F.Benson group. Please join - the more the merrier!
