Well, I almost don't know where to start. The finest early American artists were people like John Singer Sargent and Thomas Eakins. Many, many other good names, but Sargent, Eakins, Winslow Homer would be a good start. Look at my list under those names. If you are interested in American Impressionists or 20th C. artists, the list gets quite long. Throw in Regional schools like the Californians (Sam Hyde Harris), then it could take years to get through them. My books are primarily artists of California and the Western U.S. with just a few of the big name American artists that interest me.
Thanks for your message. It's good to have you on the Radio 3 Group. I hope that you will contribute from time to time. Happy listening!
