About meI am a prison librarian at ASP Phoenix West. Also I am teaching information literacy at the Community College. This collection is a prison library collection. Though I use a library software within the physical library to check out and check in books, it does not allow me to make collection visible to those who would like to know what books prison library needs. Having explored the Library Thing, I found out that I could have better ideas about books available to inmates and build a better collection. Also I am going to print visually more appealing catalog and place it within the library.

About my libraryThis Library is a small prison library for 500 inmates serving sentences for DUI. The length of sentences is from four month up to three years. The library introduces inmates to reading culture and supports their reading needs, serves as a remedy for idleness, provides tools for successful community reintegration and food for thoughts.
Inmates do not have access to the Internet and this online catalog . However, they will be able to see printed version of it maintained in the library on the prison floor.
The library does not have a budget and supported totally by inmates and grateful community and business donors. I hope Library Thing will help to make precious collection evaluation with its statistical tool, will guide me (librarian)and donors in our choices, will provide us with information what the prison library program needs and what materials have been already made accessible to inmates.
If you have any concerns or questions about prison libraries, you are always welcome to ask.

So, there seems to be a prison library section of ALA. Will follow this up.
OK. Bad idea. Obviously you have done most of them already.

But I wonder if you have other prison library contacts.
I am retired, get a hit out of Librarything and might be interested in a volunteer working holiday. How many books do you still have to do ? What kinds of books are your users interested in ?
Do you think there might be other prison libraries that could use a volunteer to put collections in Librarything and arrange for a print version ? I am retired and could do this.
Hello I would like to inquirer on what books can be donated?
