About meQuatrefoil Library exists to collect, preserve, and share materials and information relevant to gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and other sexual minority communities.

Collections include books, videos, DVDs, and sound recordings, which members may check out. We also have a large collection of non-circulating periodicals.

About my libraryWe are testing this "Library Thing" as an alternative to our public catalog. What do you think? This is only a fraction of our collection,(DVD's, videos, newsletters, newspapers, magazines, games etc not included here---just the books!) so if you're searching for an item please see our full catalog at http://www.quatrefoillibrary.org/, or call the library. 651.641.0969

Hello, and thanks for the invitation. The Chris Gonzales Library was named for a local activist who was the founder of IYG the Indianapolis glbt youth group who died from aids just before the library was due to open. Our listing on Librarything was the idea of advisors from IUPUI and the initial work was done by an intern in the masters of Library science program there. Her work tho was 'haphazard' since I've spent time since last may organizing the material on our site into the appropriate collections and now am adding the 1000+titles she missed. The library also has a collection of hundreds of recent and vintage erotica which is not listed in our collection. The library also has thousands of items in our archives of publications and memoriabilia which are not catalogued as well as dvds, vhs, etc. I haven't taken the time to get aquainted with many of LT's features because of the work on the data base. I look forward to becoming better aquainted with the other glbt collections here. Mike B
FYI, I uploaded a cover for "Extraordinary People" in case you want to use it.
If you are adding to your collection and have particular titles that interest you you might check with the Special Collections of the Central Fulton Atlanta Public Library. They seem to have gotten a LOT of gay books. Probably somebody's collection. Charing 3.00 hardbacks, 1.00 paperbacks. Benefits their Friends of the Library.
does rampn's story have hispanic characters one teenage and one older man and has a lot of profanity ?
Hi Karen,

Can you tell me more about your membership fees and charges to borrow materials? What are the fees?

We are a free lending library and don't won't start charging for checking out materials in the collection. That said, as we think about adding XXX adult DVD's we probably will charge for those. Since we don't have any adult DVDs we have to raise some money to purchase the items.

Did you get most of your XXX DVDs from donations or did you purchase them?

How much money do you make from check out charges? How much do you make from checking out XXX DVDs?

I am thinking of starting a "Friends Group" for supporting the Rare and Special Collections. Do you have a Friends Group? If so do you charge a membership fee? I'm having a Xmas Party Fund Raiser at my house for the Library. Attendees will automatically become members of the Friends Group (I think).

I'm going to be on http://www.outonline.com/ Wednesday at 11:00 est. Watch if you get a chance. Call in if you can.

Dan
Thanks for sending the call numbers. This helps alot.

I'm planning an LT party for the GLCC soon. Now that the wireless net is up in the new location I'm going to have people bring in their laptops and start loading the rest of the collection.

Dan
The two books you sent us arrived in he mail today. Thank you so much. I've added them to the LT database and we'll get them on the shelves as soon as we class and process. Do you have LC class numbers for these? I know your library history will be in the Zs (probably) and the legal assistance book will be in the HQ's or K's. We don't do any original cataloging and rely on LC or OCLC for class numbers. Did you assign LC class numbers for these titles? If you did I'll go with whatever you assigned.

I was really glad when I started volunteering at the GLCC to find out that the GLCC uses the LC classification system for non-fiction materials. However it makes it difficult to class when we can't find copy cataloging in the LC database or on OCLC.

I'll pass these by one of the original catalogers at Pitt (there offices are just down the hall from mine) and see what they come up with.

This is the kind of question I hope we can solve on the GLBT Library group I created on LT. Thanks for joining. When you get the time, send info to any other GLBT library you know of about the GLBT Library group.

Thanks again for the books.

Dan

Thanks for joining the group. Please spread the work to all the other GLBT Libraries you are connected with. Thanks. Dan
I just created a new LT group for GLBT Libraries. I hope it become the new group for GLBT Librarians who LT. http://www.librarything.com/groups/glbtlibraries Please consider joining this group.

A fantastic collection!! I'm glad I found it!
Hey,

My name is Chris Tusa, and I'm a writer from New Orleans/Baton Rouge (I actually teach in the English Department at LSU). Anyway, I noticed your profile, and I was wondering if you'd be willing to read a novel I just completed. The manuscript is currently being circulated among some of the larger NY publishers, and my agent wants to get opinions from a few readers. Let me know if you'd be willing to read the manuscript and give us your opinions. Of course, if you're too busy, I'll understand. Just thought I'd ask:) I’ve included a summary below that we plan to include on the book jacket:

Dirty Little Angels
Set in New Orleans, Dirty Little Angels is the story of sixteen year old Hailey Trosclair. When the Trosclair family suffers a string of financial hardships and a miscarriage, Hailey finds herself looking to God to save her family. When her prayers go unanswered, Hailey puts her faith in Moses Watkins, a failed preacher and ex-con. Fascinated by Moses’ lopsided view of religion, Hailey, and her brother Cyrus, begin spending time down at an abandoned bank that Moses plans to convert into a drive-through church. Gradually, though, Moses’ twisted religious beliefs become increasingly more violent, and Hailey and Cyrus soon find themselves trapped in a world of danger and fear from which there may be no escape.
Thanks so much,

Chris Tusa
