About meI am a librarian assistant at Reelfoot Regional Library.
I like to read non-fiction. Recently, I have discovered some fiction I like. I promote Young Adult reading at our libraries, so I read some of that. I really like post-apocalyptic novels and movies.
About my libraryReelfoot Region comprises 3,486 square miles with a 2004-2005 service population of 191,649. The region was formed in 1941 and has evolved from, at times, thirteen counties to the present six served since May, 1966: Benton, Carroll, Gibson, Henry, Obion, and Weakley. The region is 63% rural.
As of February 2006, Reelfoot Region is serving 14 libraries and 68 outreach stations. Of the libraries, nine are full-service, one is a branch of the Benton County Library System, and four are community libraries. Community libraries are established in facilities provided by the towns, with salaried librarians and regular schedules of service hours, but lacking in at least one criteria to be designated full-service by Tennessee Minimum Standards for Non-Metropolitan Libraries.
In English, that means we service 14 public libraries with cataloging, moving, weeding and reading, training and programming. We also provide outreach services to nursing homes, day care centers and out in the boony towns.
