About meBay-Area-born, sometimes-lapsed musician; degrees in music and ethnomusicology, with an interdisciplinary dissertation that trespassed incautiously into American studies and other fields; professionally active in museum information work (technology strategy, digital resources, metadata, etc.); long intrigued by intersections of media technologies and cultural meaning; and from a tender age, susceptible to bringing home more books than I'll ever have time to read.

About my libraryMostly academic books cataloged in a local database and not yet entered here; maybe someday I'll crank them all into LT one by one--no ISBNs.... After a mildly obsessive, initial spell of fun entering a few of those books (and a hodgepodge of others unconnected to anything resembling work) into LibraryThing, now and then I enter a few more or wander around exploring other people's overlapping libraries--almost as interesting as glancing over spines on shelves at some less long-distance social gathering, glass in hand....
