About meFormer professional Army officer, I have a MA in history, and an abiding interest in all history, but especially Canadian military history. However, I do drift into many other fields, from economic history to space flight.

About my libraryHeavy on Canadian military history, but not exclusively so, I've over 1000 volumes. Only new acquisitions, re-readings, and my (extensive) wish list make it to LibraryThing.

Thanks for your email;I am not ex army but I have a keen interest in military history as my family has a long military tradition;I had 9 close relatives who served in Great war with CEF;all wounded at least once but none died;my granmother(Dad's side) was a nurse in France and Belgium and from 1917 on ran a large hospital in Kent:she received Royal Red Cross for her service;her brother was a MajGen with 3rd Div and received CMG;my granfather(Mom's side) served in the 15th batt(48th Highlanders of Toronto) as a captain and saw all the famous battles;he won a MC for service at Vimy and Hill 70; his brother also won a MC in 1918 with 15th;same grandfather went back for WWII as Col of 48th then ended up as Brig commanding all reinforcements in Italy for Can;he was MID and received CBE for his services. My father was signals in WWII with Ft Garry Horse and 1st Armoured Carrier regt(kangeroos) and saw service in France/Belgium/Holland/Ger.Five other relatives also served in WWII;I even have a relative who served in NW rebellion in 1885.So lots of interest in Great war and WWII but history/war in Middle east/Afghan/Iraq also big interest.I also collect Great war militaria and toy soldiers so pretty crazy on war stuff. I am in investment management industry with my own firm in Toronto and went to Western and Windsor Univs for business admin;I guess that Bay St feeds my history passion.
