I'm a great fan of several of your historical fiction authors - Dorothy Dunnett, Patrick O'Brian and Mary Renault in particular. My wife put me onto Dunnett just after we met in 1974 or 1975 (we met through science fiction fandom - we were both working on the 1975 World SF Convention held in Melbourne), and I discovered Patrick O'Brian some time in the mid 1990's, and read the whole Aubrey/Maturin series in about 3 months.
I'm always pleased to find another Manning Coles fan. I think I fell in love with Tommy Hambledon when I was about 12 and started collecting there after. I have only just got my last one - Now or never - which I had never even seen let alone owned. I paid about £30 but it had a cover and I knew I'd never see it again. So 50 years later I ended up with a full set. It is possible so keep looking. The Sanders books aren't too difficult or expensive to buy. I updated my Again Sanders into a hardback last year for a couple of pounds at the Pudsey bookfair. I'm still on the lookout for hardback copies for a few titles. I must admit I won't pay over about £30 for anything, but then I'm not a first edition collector - I just want to read the book!

I see we are both studying through the OU judging by the books we share.
