About meI’ve noticed that in the “about me” section, several folk have commented that their library can tell a visitor more about them than any paragraph they might write.
Well, true; a library is not a thing to be assembled all at once. Going through my shelves for cataloging, I see that I have serious books and silly books, scholarly books and speculative ones. Books bought new, books from thrift shops and used-book stores, books found at yard sales and rare books ordered from abroad; books handed down from my grand-parents’ and parents’ houses, books from my childhood or leftover text books from college, books from all the different phases and years of my life – thus far, at any rate. Some come and go; some stay, for an assortment of reasons, or none in particular. Some that were on my shelves when I started this are not listed, having been culled as I cataloged, as I’ve realized that I no longer need those particular books, though they were relevant at the time. A number have been added recently, after scanning the libraries of others, and realizing I need *that* book as well – I’m sure this is not uncommon!
More anon, perhaps.
About my libraryStill in the process of loading, though rather more slowly. I'm still finding some things which I hadn't realized hadn't been entered, plus buying a book... or three... now and again.
