About meI am pioneering new linguistics methods, and research nine languages (but interested in any obscure facts about). My first publication (I plan to publish it this year after many years' wait) is on NZ Maori. I research all kinds of archaeology and paleontology to document my new ideas.

About my libraryA lot of the books currently in it are in Chinese so I won't list them (I'm in China researching for my Chinese book). I left my first collection in New Zealand in a little old farm cottage, and it's been incinerated or sth. Moving a lot it's hard to keep books, so it's kind of cool to have a virtual collection anyway.

Hi, Sally -- I do have Irish ancestors, but my interest in Celtic and Irish was sparked by taking an Old Irish class in the course of my graduate work in Indo-European. I fell in love with that insane language with its deuterotonic verbs and irregularities on top of irregularities, and when I went to Dublin to take a summer course in Old Irish, they said we'd never understand the language unless we learned Modern Irish as well, so I took a course in that as well (and spent a couple of weeks out west in Inishmaan practicing it, and drinking in the pub by gaslight -- no electricity on the island back then!). I envy you being able to spend time in China; I taught college in Taiwan, which introduced me to an ancient culture and great food, and I'd love to visit the mainland someday.
Hello, Sally-Anne. I hope you enjoy this site as much as I do. I'll be looking for your Maori publication: it sounds very interesting! Linguistics was my favorite subject at university. My degrees are in journalism and sociology, but if I had it to do all over again...

China, now, that's a dream! Best of luck with your research. Someday, I'm sure, you will retrieve your collection in New Zealand. I have hauled my books all over the world, but periodically they had to wait for me.
