Hi, Sarah - I hope you don't think HORSE SOLDIERS is a "horse story," 'cause its not. It's modern history - US's first response on the ground to 9/11. I just got my copy in mail yesterday. Author Doug Stanton was born here in Reed City and my brothers and I went to high school w/ his folks. I read the first 20 or so pp last night before I fell asleep and it promises to be very good. Doug is very meticulous in his research and writing, which his first book's success attests to. All that said, I like the books in your thus-far meager library. I read most of Marguerite Henry's books over fifty years ago. I believe one of the Arabian horses in the Kentucky Derby this year was from the Godolphin line. Some of my favorite horse stories as a boy were by Mary O'Hara: My Friend Flicka, Thunderhead (son of Flicka), and The Green Grass of Wyoming. And of course Walter Farley's Black Stallion books and others. And Rutherford Montgomery wrote some great horse books. Will James' Smoky the Cow Horse is a classic. Enjoy your reading. - Tim
