About meI'm a retired high school English teacher/teacher-librarian (30 years experience). I am currently the senior editor for a niche publisher of print-on-demand books.
Besides reading, I have a number of other interests: scrapbooking, knitting, genealogy, and photography. I am always taking interest courses, my current ones being art history and the Dutch language.

About my libraryI have an extensive collection of books, focussing on contemporary Canadian fiction. I also read ebooks and listen to audiobooks.

Oh dear, Doreen. That's a bit what I was afraid of...... I have *Goldfinch* to read, but I haven't gotten to it in spite of the raves. I was not all that crazy about *Secret History*, so I'm not particularly surprised.
That is a very good review of Above All Things. I'm currently reading Into the Silence: The Great War, Mallory, and the Conquest of Everest, which is an outstanding piece of non-fiction if you're still interested in the subject!
Now I'm off to see what you had to say about The Luminaries, the most disappointing thing I read last year, I think.

Good review of Muse- I liked Conceit very much and was looking forward to this book- I was not happy with the style and character development.
I just wanted to compliment you on your excellent review of Above All Things. I just finished the book and was curious what other LTers thought so read all the reviews. Yours was both thorough and thoughtful.
My husband's family is from Renfrew. He's from a big family....Lots of Roubles around.
We share some books so I just looked up your name. Any connection to Renfrew, Ontario?
I mean DRUNKEN! :)
Great review of Alone in the Classroom! Thanks for that! I"ve been trying to decide whether to read it or not -and you have convinced me that a book I'd like to read. I'm Canadian too -and enjoy Canada Lit.

Yes, when I realized you were from Canada I thought that may be the place to look. Thanks anyway. I'm new to the website so am still learning.
Hi Schatje,
I'm wondering if you can help me. I am trying to add Mr. Shakespeare's Bastard to my library but it is not coming up when I search for it in add my books. Can you remember where you found it in the list?
Thanks Roro8
