Oh, I hope I hope Robert gets a book, lol. He deserves it after helping Thomas, Io, Patrick, and Madelyn.

I'm sorry to hear you've been under the weather. Are you doing better now?

I understand being behind in the reading. I'm in college now and have virtually no time for myself. The last Kurland book I read was The Mage's Daughter in the beginning of January, and since then I've only read one other book, as opposed to how I used to read two to three books a week. Actually, looking back through my book journal, I can see that the last time I read From This Moment On, it took me two weeks because of school! lol. Well, I have Sunday off, and part of Saturday off,so perhaps I'll get some reading in then, right? lol
I love Robert. He is my favorite ghost. But I know what you mean about him seeing older. However, every time I read the books he is in I notice there is not a single reference or hint to his age. I suppose only Lynn knows. But, I really want there to be a book for Robert, more than anyone else.
Here's what Lynn said to me in her last chat.

AmandaNot OfArtane — Will we be seeing anymore ghost stories soon?
Lynn Kurland — Amanda . . . what sorts? Where the hero is a ghost? Now, that would be giving it away, wouldn't it? :)
AmandaNot OfArtane — Yes, the hero a ghost. I'm waiting for someone in particular.
Lynn Kurland — Amanda, well, dear, spill the beans! I might have to rearrange my plans . . .
Lynn Kurland — Or are you talking about Robert the piper?
Lynn Kurland — Amanda--I'll see what I can do for you. :)
yeah, I read TMD, but not before re-reading Star of the Morning. I realize if I hadn't re-read SotM I would have been completely lost. Especially since there was literally a year between the release of the books (according to my book journal).

About Robert the Piper, I had considered before the info came out that Robert might be Sunny's guy, but whenever I think about it more...Sunny and the Piper don't seem right for each other. Also, in a chat I had asked Lynn if she planned on writing a book about Robert MacLeod, and she said she hadn't thought about it, and that chat came during the writing of With Every Breath. So, I was a bit surprised to see the name Robert in the summary, and a bit relieved to see that his last name is Cameron, not MacLeod. So, Robert the Piper is still available, lol.

May comes far too slowly.
I'm baking bookworm over on the porch. I still rather a newbie & don't post nearly as much as I read, which is true on every bb where I post.
Greetings, Schotzy!
Thanks for mentioning this website on the porch!

regards,
Joy
Have you seen the cover and description for Sunny's book?!?! I'm so excited!!! May is just too far away!!!
TB is definitely a series that can be enjoyed as a adult, at least for me. Some aspects of it are certainly dated, but usually in an endearing and enjoyable way. I always wished for adventures like Trixie's - and I think I subconsciously liked that Trixie experienced Honey's wealthy life but always returned to and appreciated her family farm. Your comment (and a book I was reading on the Puritans & Salem witch trials) actually inspired me to pick up Owen last night and this morning, so I'm hoping to read a little each day and finish it relatively soon. It's just usually hard to choose Owen over Trixie Belden or a fun history book!
Hi Carolyn,
Glencoe is one of the many books I own but haven't read yet. Thanks for the recommendation! Some other authors of Scotland-set historical fiction whose works I've enjoyed are Jules Watson (she has a trilogy set in the Roman period), Liz Curtis Higgs, Jeanne Williams (like The Island Harp), and Nigel Tranter. I see Higgs is a favorite of yours too!
Sarah
thank you, I shall look into those. I am a bit surprised at myself for not having any books about Scotland. I do, however, look through the books every time I go to Barnes and Noble, but I never buy them. But per your recommendation I'll probably buy the Higgs book ^_^ Thanks.
lol, so it's all my fault you are neglecting poor Jamie, is it? lol
I know how ye feel about Scotland. I am borderline (crossed the border) obsessed. All I can think about lately is that time a couple years from now when I'll be in Stirling, studying abroad. I can hardly wait, and I doubt I'll want to leave. And it was Lynn who made my love for the country grow (I have realized that that love began before reading her books). Oh, and about your signature, Caledonia Dreamer: for a while my own signature was the line "Caledonia is everything I've ever had" from the song. I remember, I made that my signature AFTER reading yours. haha

I thought there would be more ladies who would enjoy this site, and am now glad I posted the link.

Well, tell Jamie I'm sorry I've made you neglect him. To make it up to him I shall read the book myself, lol.

Amanda
I sure am on Lynn's boards ^_^ I'm Amanda NOT of Artane, lol. I recognized your name right away, though I'm not sure we've ever actually talked to each other.
Hi Carolyn, I guess you could say I've been muddling through Owen also! It's not that I don't enjoy it, but I haven't really been in a mood to read theology lately...it's most useful to me if I'm able to talk about what I'm reading with other people, even if they haven't read it, and I'm missing my college conversation buddies now. I need to just put aside the fiction and lighter non-fiction and really get started on Owen. And yes, I love Trixie Belden! I read them when I was a kid and recently found some at a used bookstore and had to reread them. I always wanted a club like the Bob-Whites :)

Hi Carolyn,

We use PayPal to process credit card payments (you don't need to actually have a PayPal account). That's why it said PayPal (but it *used* your credit card). Does that make sense?

Abby
Oh yes, I love Sharon Kay Penman, she writes historical novels that are well researched and detailed and lean more on the side of true historic events (embellished) rather than romance, though there is some romance in them, but nothing like an Outlander.

Her Wales trilogy is very good, start out by reading Here Be Dragons and then the next two after that in order. All take place around the time of King John of England and Prince Llewelyn of Wales who married John's illegitimate daughter, Joanna. After the trilogy, you've got to read The Sunne in Splendour, (my favorite so far of all teh books I've read of hers) all about Richard III (it will make a big fan of his and you'll never believe Shakespeare depiction of him again!)

Happy reading!

Julie
Hi Carolyn, yes I've heard of Julie Garwood, I have The Bride and The Wedding on my TBR list, and also some Kathleen Givens books, like Kilgannon and it's sequel. There are so many books I want to read! I'm going to add you as a friend, so I can keep track of your Scottish books as well. I've read the Outlander series over a few times, and now just listen to the unabridges CD's nonstop in my car when I commute - are you on your first reading? As soon as I finished all the books (at that time A Breath hadn't come out yet) I turned right around and began reading Outlander over and it was so much better the 2nd time around. They all were! I'm so captivated with Scotland, I'd love to go there one day, but my husband keeps saying not when the dollar is so crappy! (alas, who knows when I'll get there, but I did get him to read Outlander at least! LOL!)

Julie
Hello Carolyn,
I must admit I have a soft spot (very soft) for Scottish romance. I am discovering some wonderful authors and am happy to share my thoughts with you. I have only read the first three books of the Outlander series and that was back in the 90s. I want to reread them and follow through the rest of the books. But you can probably see from my library that I have quite a few books that have not be read yet. LOL I keep buying ones that catch my eye and can't read fast enough...

I should get some good reading done today. School is cancelled...we are getting a nor'easter - 8 to 12 inches.

Linda
Well, first and foremost I'm an Outlander fan, but I've discovered Scottish romances while waiting for the next book to come out. I've only read a few to date, I've just started. Just can't get enough of those kilted warriors! LOL!

Oooh! More recs please! I have a long TBR list, but I'm eager for some good ones!
